I think I'll check that one out, Squirt. I have seen her latest "Change Of Heart," is that right? Supposed to be good.

I'm member of a book club. You have to buy one book/cd/dvd every third month, but for that they are a lot of cheaper... I guess, I'll call them. But sometimes they have trouble finding this huge apartment building next to a hospital, where I live in, and I won't get any mails or packages...

Re: Books you love!
I love the Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell. And right now, I'm currently reading (and loving) Between the River and the Bridge (or vice versa since I don't have the book right in front of me) by Craig Ferguson. I absolutely adore anything by Nicholas Sparks too!

Re: Books you love!
Why didn't I see this thread before??? (I just realized... because it was forgotten around midyear last year, lol)
oh, anywayz...
I LOVE A Hundred Years of Solitude... And Isable Allende is interesting, though. She's chilean, just like me . Have you read Laura Esquivel?
love them both!! I can't wait to see if Auel is going to write another book in the series. I read the last one took 12 years to appear. I read them all last year and I was pretty obsessed with them...
and LOTR? read it many times as well! The 1st time I read them in English it took me like half the book to realize what Thy and Thee meant
For the last 4 years I read mostly for Uni (you wouldn't believe how much I have to read... then again, maybe you would but it IS a lot, OK?), so I just re-read my fav books when I want to relax and just get new books every once in a while.
One of those I love re-reading are the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. It's a hitorical novel with a lovely romantic thing between the main characters. It's set in Scotland in 1745 (Clans times and revolution) AND 1945 (just after the WWII had been over), and then in -- not going to say in case someone decides to read them I fell in love with Scotland's history because of those books--they're funny, interesting, historically correct, sweet. They're some of the best books evah to me. I recommend them dearly to you!!!
Other books I can see from my desk are some Cam-like paperback novels, Roots by Alex Haley, A brave new world, some psychology-like books, a couple Deepak Chopra books, uhm... Little Prince, Ami: Child of the stars...
oh, anywayz...

The Stand is always a fav with me as well.
LOTR's right up there to.

Tom Clancy is my favourite author of all time, closely followed by Clive Cussler and Bryce Courtney.
I have alot of other authors that I read as well as autobiographies.

Markus Zusak...awesome. Read I Am the Messenger and The Book Thief. Go. Now.
Right now, I'm reading the first required reading book in a long time that I would actually read again for pleasure. The Things they Carried by Tim O'Brien.

The Pact is really good, if not a bit depressing like My Sisters Keeper. That was the first one of her books I read.
I loved The Pact. I had emotions I didn't know existed. So angry and sad.
And My Sister's Keeper was amazing. I cried so hard in the end. Can't wait for the movie. Though I can't really see Cameron Diaz as Sara.
I also read Plain Truth which was good, but not as good as the former ones.
Did one of you read Evermore?

Re: Books you love!
Just finished re-reading the five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom..such a great read!
Re: Books you love!
I'm kind of in a Jodi Picoult phase right now. It started with me having not read My Sister's Keeper and wanting to before I saw the movie. I'm reading Salem Falls right now, and so far it's pretty good.
I also read Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson, which in my opinion was good. The writing style is a bit different, but it provides a scary, even though it's fiction, picture into a young girl battling with the troubles of anorexia.
I'm planning on reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer as well, but after the first little bit I kind of stopped. I'm hoping it gets more interesting.

I love these books--the (good Lord!) 7th book, An Echo in the Bone, is due out this Sept in the US (dates vary on location). I wonder when I can put my name on the library list?
Jean Auel, well, I only care for a couple of hers. Whenever the 6th book comes out, I'll read it, but the last one was rather disappointing...
I read a lot of fantasy, myself:
Mercedes Lackey is tops. Her Valdemar, the elves, Diana Tregarde, 500 Kingdoms, Elemental Masters series...
Anne McCaffrey--Dragonriders of Pern mostly, but some of her sci-fi stuff is good.
Christopher Stasheff, who doesn't end up on many of these lists--his Warlock series.
David Eddings--Belgariad and Mallorean. Major epic with a light touch.
Katherine Kurtz--Deryni
Just to name a few.
I go a little old fashioned with my mystery--Dorothy L. Sayers. Lord Peter is wonderful!
