Books you love!

Hi people....
it just occured to me, that we don't have a book recommendation thread here... And since I am not only addicted to Bones, but also to books, I thought it might be a nice idea to post your favourite books, or books you have read and want to recommend in this thread.
I am curious on your opinions!!!
At the moment I am reading everything by Patricia Briggs.
It's all fantasy stuff with a little romance... a cute distraction. Not my very favourite books, but I like them.
Can't wait until Iron kissed (the third part after Moon Called and Blood Bound comes out in January....) The series is about werewolves and all that.

Say What You Want : Wow, I am so very sad that I missed the closure of this site.... I have no idea if anyone is able to read this, or if all hope of a goodbye is lost. In any case, I'd like to say thanks to all those who were a big part of my life. Regretfully, I haven't been on here for a long time, yet I doubt that anyone would begrudge the decision. Thank you, Willi, for providing us with an outlet, a meeting place, a home ♥

Re: Books you love!
Tough call! The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is my favourite book of all time. Along with Of Mice and Men coming in a close second. Actually most stuff by Steinbeck is great, The Red Pony and Cannery Row are brilliant as well.
Ummm, I love Kathy Reichs and also Linda Fairstein.
Of Human Bondage by Somerset Maugham is fantastic. I really loved that.
Non-Fiction The Great Human Diasporas: The History of Diversity and Evolution by Luigi Luca Cavalli-Sforza and Francesco Cavalli-Sforza is a great read!
And I am currently reading Moby Dick by Herman Melville and The Catcher in the Rye by J. D Salinger both of which I am really enjoying.

My other favourite book is Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery
Actually, I love the whole series. Ooh, Gilbert.
Plus, anything by Roald Dahl, J.K Rowling, Kenneth Oppel, etc.
Can you tell I love children's books?

Re: Books you love!
I just read Persepolis (I forget the name of the author) it's a graphic novel and gets a bit, well, graphic (;-)) in parts, but it is amazing, and a very quick read! I highly recommend it! It's autobiographical (I think) and tells the story of a girl growing up in Iran and the changes that took place in her country and her life. Amazing.

Me too. Like 'A little Princess' (loved the cartoon when I was younger because the princess' name is Sara/h), 'Little Women', 'Heidi', 'Black Beauty' and, of course, 'Anne of Green Gables'.
And I almost forgot 'Neverending Story'.
I'm actually quite proud of my copy of Heidi because it's already 65years old. My grandma got it from her mother and a few years ago I got it.

Re: Books you love!
Right now I'm re-reading The Clan Of The Cave Bear series, sometimes called The Earth's Children series, by Jean Auel. I love that series of books, for some reason.
The Stand is always a fav with me as well.
LOTR's right up there to.

Pimp!
you also like the Stand?
there is something strangely spooky about the whole idea behind it, which is why I re-read it from time to time.

The movie is awesome. I had to buy it and didn't regret that so far. Gregory Peck's Atticus is a lot like the one of my imagination.

Re: Books you love!
I was a big Harry Potter fan and read 'em all. But my latest fave is My Sister's Keeper Soooo good, but sad, so don't read if you're depressed! They are turning it into a movie with Cameron Diaz and Alec Baldwin. Bit of trivia: Emily's dad is the cinematographer and she is going to have a small part.

Re: Books you love!
yay, a book thread. IŽll love it here cause IŽm a total bookworm. You have mentioned a couple of my favorites - Willi, I adored Anne of Green Gables, I still have all the books at home. Currently, I read a lot of Jeffery Deaver (the Lincoln Rhymes novels). And Sophie KinsellaŽs Shopoholic novels are great when youŽre down. Of course I have Kathy Reichs audiobooks in my ipod. Hmm, the list is long...

I love the Harry Potter books, I have read them a couple of times.
I also love books by Patricia Cornwell, Elizabeth George, Deborah Crombie and of course Kathy Reichs. Her new book is coming out in August and I am really looking forward to it.

Re: Books you love!
Please do yourself a huge favor and read Donna Tartt's A Secret History and The Little Friend. The plot of both books include a mystery, but the focus of the stories is not so much about solving the mysteries as it is about character development.
I have recently read Sea Glass and The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve. I have developed a thorough appreciation for her writing style.

I ordered My Sister's Keeper two weeks ago, but didn't get it so far. Though I really want to read it. but I've noticed that Jodie Piquard (?) wrote other novels that sound really interesting as well.

Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.... Austin is good but hard to read sometimes...
I'm also a huge Stephenie Myers fan... Love the Twilight books and her new one... The Host started out a little slow... but by the end I was in love with it.

Sarah, that's weird you haven't gotten it yet. Where did you order it from? Yeah, Jodi Piccoult has a lot of good books, but I haven't read any yet.

The Pact is really good, if not a bit depressing like My Sisters Keeper. That was the first one of her books I read.
