Im going to assume it's the same in the US as it is here, that it's highly frowned upon to start a relationship in a warzone, that and we don't even have a fraternization policy like the US militairy.

He could be injured and end up being cared for by an attractive Army nurse or surgeon. Could happen at Ramstein on the way back to DC.
