Oh, I like that period as well. But I didn't enjoy the story...it was just...blah, for me.

When I was in school, there were always certain books we had to read. Farenheit 451, Animal Farm, Moby Dick, Lord of the Flies. And To Kill a Mockingbird. And that was the only one that left an impression, and that I've read again. More than once...lol.

OMG! You're from the mirror universe! I had to read the same books, and the only one I didn't care for was Mockingbird. LMAO. Oh, and the book version of Lord of the Flies is good, depressing, but good - but the film they made out of it back in the 90s? Wow did that suck. I remember leaving the theater angry.

Oh I hear you on the Bronte. I tried to read Villette in highschool, got like 4 chapters in and gave up on it.

I found it to be reminiscent of Poe's Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym, minus the darker allegorical pieces and supernatural setting.

Oh, I didn't like the movie either.

I think one of the things I loved most about Mockingbird was how real it felt...it wasn't a true story per se, but it could very easily have been. And that movie adaptation was wonderful.
