FYI, Spanish people use 'ché chulo' a lot. At least children and youngsters.

My Spanish is a bit rusty. A few years ago it was very good, I passed nivel intermedio de DELE easily in Spain and was towards the highest level but I stopped and I haven't been using it for a while. But when things are getting closer to graduation I will grab my books and will brush up my knowledge. I know it hasn't vanished yet, I can still use it. It's a very easy language so it shall not be a problem.

It's not that rusty mary! and once you learn something I think it's just a matter of using it again and all will come back to your mind!

Post by himbeer29 Sat Jul 12, 2008 1:22 am

oh mary. it was.... eventful. (although dinner didn't happen until after 9). I just don't understand her. At all. She's very much into appearances... putting on a good show for everyone, and I'm not. I'd be perfectly happy getting married in a garden with 5 other people there. Her idea of "elegance" is everything huge and over the top. My idea of elegance is simplicity, and letting things speak for themselves. Also, her taste = what's in style right now. So her response to things will be, well, that's the style now. or that's not the style anymore. So we're trying to find a photographer for the wedding (although after last night I think things are ok... dare I hope... I think I'm getting one of the ones I want) and she really doesn't want to spend that much money on a photographer. Whereas my fiance and I want good pictures. We could care less how fancy the mandap (platform on which the hindu ceremony will take place) is if we're stuck with amateur pictures. This guy we saw last night was AMAZING, very talented, he clearly loves his job, beautiful pictures, but he was expensive. And all she could talk about afterwards was the fact that for all that money you didn't get anything to take home (she had talked to another, not-very-good photographer who was a lot cheaper and the album that you got for less money looks nicer on the outside) all the while we were trying to explain that it's the INSIDE of the album that matters (we're probably not going with this guy anyways, he really is too expensive)... but... well, in anycase, you get the picture. And this is about how most conversations with her go. To her, this wedding is going to be tiny, and our guest list is over 200 people! ridiculous!

Oh, razz. I feel for you. She is very bossy and will want to chip in your life. But I am sure you know all of that. Don't let her, that's my only advice. I am sorry, I wanted to write more, but I have to go. See you later.
