Building inspector coming next week and we can find out if there's any way to bat-proof the old place. To some degree, at least.

Here's hoping. Those buggers can get annoying. They're not as bad as squirrels though, I've a 10 year running feud with the squirrels in my neighborhood. Buggers have been winning for the last four.

I would say 90% of all attics I've ever been in or seen have been dark (no windows) or dim (one small one). Because the window's in my room, the attic itself has none. I'll admit there are roof vents that let a little light in, but not enough to matter. Or so I would think.

I hate tree-rats as much as I dislike flying ones!

Yep, Tree Rats, Flying Rats, Crawlin' Rats - they're all vermin to me. Remind me to tell you the time my brother and I had to remove a colony of rats from a feed shed (on our family farm). One of the reasons I won't eat commercial beef with HGH in it anymore stems from that day. *shudder*

Queen of the night isn't too bad, tho there might be copyright issues with Anne Rice--no, that's Queen of the Damned, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure I don't want to hear that story. Not all that fond of straight rats, either. Mercifully, I've seen very few around here, even when out walking at night. More of them in the subway, along the tracks, for a while.

Ah, that's right - the titles put the images in my mind. Cause and effect - again I'm good either way - as I said the mental imagery is reward enough. Next up, Dawn as Xena, Warrior Princess...though the Lucy Lawless outfits never really did it for me. Now Callisto, that's another story.

Thank you! I never saw the attraction. Sorry, I don't care for the whole submissive woman thing. Plus the only woman who's ever come close to making that look good was Yvonne Strahovsky and even she juuuust missed the mark. I'm a rare breed - never saw the attraction to the slave girl fantasy.

Well I'm with you there. Totally mutual and completely temporary. I mean as a RP scenario I guess it's cool, but the actual master/slave culture leaves me cold. That's not the way it should be IMO, it just doesn't work for me.

Haven't worked with someone else on a story since, oh good lord, since I started writing back in high school. Remind me to tell you about how she & I both wrote our own versions of ch1 and came out on completely different ends of the spectrum!

Excellent! I'm having a blast doing this - oh, and just send you a PM. BTW I'm doing the same thing with keeping the shorts in a separate doc, so we're on the same page.

I've never worked on a story with anyone before and this is flowing so naturally - its not just the subject matter either, we really click. I told you I thought we'd be good at this. I can't wait to get started on the case fic now. lol

This method of writing is working so much better, so I have to agree with you about the flow. Maybe because it's short pieces, too. Or possibly because our minds run in tandem just enough. (that would be scary, except for the lovely results we seem to get) Whatever--so long as it keeps working. I'll read your message, and then I was going to bid you (and Lady Rae, if she's still about) a fond good night.

Heh, I was about to turn in when I saw the alert and so I checked myself. Yes, we run in tandem just enough - we complement one another quite well (Another B&B ism, Hey, at least I get to be Boothy). Fare the well my Queen, and let those flying rodents know that they face our wrath shoulst they disturb thee. There's more than one squirrel who'll testify to my ferocity.
