Twitter is a social networking site that is a hybrid of an instant message and a text message. You send a text message (a Tweet) from your phone (you can also send messages online) to a general number and people who “follow” you will get it. Everyone who follows you gets the same message. You receive messages (online or to your phone) from people you follow. When you reply to a message you start with @name because it still goes to the central number and your friend then knows you meant to talk to them. Here are other commands used.

RT means re-tweet. If you enjoy a tweet you have received you RT it and send it on to your followers

d name means to send a direct message to your friend, the rest of your followers don't see it.

block name self-explanatory

nudge name sends a message to your friend to encourage them to update.
