RATINGS: Past numbers for future predictions Empty RATINGS: Past numbers for future predictions

There seems to be a section in every thread where people start to talk about ratings. What they were last season - and what that means. What they might be this season - and what that means, etc. So I thought it might be good to have a thread for that so we don't keep derailing threads everywhere. [Only admins are allowed to see this image]

recoveringbonesaddict was kind enough in one of the threads to list the season 5 per show ratings. I thought I'd start the thread from that.

The ratings mid-season were 10.6-11.5. Smile
yep that is correct there was a ratings drop off after the months it was off air mid season when returned, (just noted the post 100 epi final ratings as they did not decline to 7.2 as said) Smile

I think Bones had done fairly well with ratings in the first part of S5 especially against Survivor that usually generated between 12 - 14 million viewers. Then I think the hiatus killed Bones - 2 months off the air -then to come back with the not so great episodes made them really drop off. The Big Bang Theory that they will be up against this season is mainly like Survivors ratings, generally around 13 million. That may have been in part by the great night that CBS had on Mondays and not necessarily just that show.

Bones did really well - until after the hundredth. Hart can say all he wants about the break effecting the viewership, but it's the same viewship he was praising for being willing to follow
the show all over the schedule in different time slots, etc. So, what the audience has suddenly forgotten how to track. when the show was coming back on Rolling Eyes He doesn't want to entertain that some of his audience lost interest after that ending of the hundredth.

Here are the ratings for Bones for each episode during season 5. The ratings are for the second half of the show in which the show normally achieves its highest ratings. The gain in viewers from the first half of the show to the second half is about 750K viewers.

In the first half of the season when there were two strong competitors (Flash Forward ratings when it Premiere were very high and it ran a strong second for sometime) Bones' ratings were on par with the last 8 episodes. You might think this is great news until you realize that Bones' only real competition was Survivor in the second half of the season. Viewers had given up on Flash Forward, but they did not flock to Bones.

A new ratings thread is started in the Show Discussion section for each NEW episode. Just an FYI.

Cool. That's good to know. I think since ratings are being used for trending purposes, we probably need it here in spoilers, too.
