Nightowl wrote:Hey Toz! I don't even think I've talked to you since then, but what did you think of the World Cup final? I was cheering for the Dutch until about 15 minutes in, and then switched sides. Have you ever seen so many yellow cards?
I was cheering for Spain from the beginning, because it looks better to lose against the Champion you know?
and they really played a great World Cup
but that final must have been the worst game the Dutch played in the last decade
I think from around the 10th to the 40th minute they had more contact with the Spanish players than with the ball
I think a game in the 2006 World Cup had even more cards, but I can't remember which one
but it was definitely way up there among those with the most yellow cards I ever saw
I know what you mean exactly. The Dutch were ridiculous. That one guy who did the drop-kick, he should have been red-carded for sure. Oh well. The better team won, and I always like to see a team who had never won win it for the first time. Spain was deserving.
De Jong was one of the worst for sure
but van Bommel was not that much better
it was nice to see them win for the first time
they deserved it after the great qualification and World Cup they played
They had a system and it worked, and they kept it true to the very last minute. You must have been okay with Germany getting third. They played one hell of a tournament.
yeah third place was more than okay
after losing Ballack like that I didn't expect them to get all that far, but the young ones worked hard and played a really good tournament for sure
It scares that me that are so young, and they're only going to get better. They will be a force for years.

Nothing overly exciting, I went to a bbq at my friends yesterday, and her family brought some drama, so I washed those concerns away with Beer and then came home to crash pretty early for a sat night. Today I attended the RibFest at a local park, pleased to announce no problems with the local transit today LOL Wink

maybe they will win something this time
2002 was Vizekusen-year though.....they lost the Champions League final, lost the 'Meisterschaft' in the Bundesliga to Munich in the last game and lost the final of the German cup final......and Schneider and Ballack lost (or weren't allowed to play) the 2002 World Cup final too
it was kinda tragic but also a tiny little bit funny
