Re: Booth and Bones As a Couple? Yay or Nay?
Just like Hart Hanson said, if they're going to get them together and therefore ditch the sexual-tension draw, then they better have something a hell of a lot better to replace it with!
Re: Booth and Bones As a Couple? Yay or Nay?
I can probably live with mid-late season 5 on reflection <lets out agonised squeal>, if we get some sort of realisation on one or both of their parts that they love each other, explicitly played out on screen e.g. a conversation with Angela (not each other).
That would rack up the tension and would be OK to watch. Actually, not 'OK', agonising in fact, but it'd keep us all on the edge of our seats!
Ah, I don't know, I'm no writer. Realistically, how many seasons do you think they have left anyway? <quiet sob at the thought of it ever ending>.

Shakari wrote:Yeah, Booth keeps dropping all of these little hints for Brennan...
"There's more than one kind of family"
"There are people who are meant to be together"
"You're special, Bones."
etc.
She's a genius, for heck's sake! She's gotta catch on sooner or later.
It's interesting you should mention that, because I've been sort of waiting for Brennan to blow up on Booth one of these days :bom: , for doing all these things after he put 'the line' in place, which she takes quite literally/seriously.
It's not unlikely that she has been acting on the assumption that 1. he put the line there, so he should also be the one to "remove" it, and 2. she's probably convinced he won't, because that line must be there for a reason and this is Booth's territory so why question his judgment?
But if I were her, and if I what I've just stated is true, then I would start getting royally pissed off at Booth at some point for toying with me, taunting me with something he's not going to give me.
(Or, you know, I'll vicariously do it for her in fanfic or something--because heck if I'm not starting to have some issues with Booth concerning this :bom: :bom: :bom: )
Meanwhile, this in-between-place they're in right now as a non-couple is actually rather interesting, drama-wise...
And obviously, issues with Player!Booth notwithstanding, B&B melt moments FTW!

This? I'd pay to see.
I don't mind the slow evolution of the ship. I'm rather enjoying it, actually. Of course I want them together, preferably during the last season -not just in the final episode(s). I want them to have some some time to develop and find their way in newfound territory. If they just ride off into the sunset, after everything we've been through with them, I'd feel slightly cheated.
As for them becoming Meredith/Dereck... This isn't Grey's. They are, in fact, two diametrically opposed shows, with vastly different dynamics involved. Let's be honest: someone on this cast starts having an affair with a ghost, I think it's safe to say we'll collectively click our remotes and call it day. My biggest fear is that they'll go the route of Gilmore Girls, where it was all going peachy and working fine (obstacles and all) until Lorelai got married to her ex (which was right about the time I stopped watching because, WTF?). Granted, that was due to a shift in the show's management, but still, it was pretty awful character-wise.
What I dream of for this show? A Battlestar Galactica type of run: Few seasons but Holly Cow! What excellent television!

Grey's Anatomy = Soap Opera
Hart Hanson has stated many times that he doesn't want it to turn into a soap opera. By putting these two together, then constantly putting together and taking them apart again, then it essentially turns into a soap opera. I think we'll see these two together, but not until the last season. Hart Hanson has too much sense for that.

Re: Booth and Bones As a Couple? Yay or Nay?
I love the slow progression. I wouldn't watch anymore if they got together. I love the chase aspect. I know Booth put the line in place, but seriously if you were a red blooded woman and he was saying the things he has been saying to Bones wouldn't you get the hint?
Come on is Bones still that clueless as to Booth's feelings about her? Have we seen Booth with any women since last season when he escorted Cam to her father's birthday party.? Seems funny to me that he is single and not dating anyone, holding out hope for his beloved Bones that she may eventually get the hint.
Even agent Blondie picked up on the flirting Booth was doing. Of course you can't miss the looks Booth gives Bones, but he was just playfully flirting with Blondie. I hope that the writers throw Bones for a loop and allow Blondie and Booth a few dates where all Booth talks about is Bones. Just to make Blondie wish she was Bones.
These are just my opinions of course, this is why we are on the aby. Because our opinions matter.

Re: Booth and Bones As a Couple? Yay or Nay?
Brennan's coming around, but it's a slow process obviously. That, and there's also that comment one of you made about the line. Now, I'm not sure it'll ever be brought up again, but we all know how literal Brennan is. If something is some way, it's that way for a reason. But, if you put it that way, if Booth still has his 'line'...he put it there for a reason. Not just to remain professional, but there's gotta be something there, right? That's why I really think we're in some serious need for Brennan/Angela BFF talk. One, because I miss them actually acting like best friends. And two, because someone has to make her see what's right in front of her. Because at this point? Everyone-Cam, Ange, Hodgins....Max-they ALL know. Honestly, I would love for a scene between Booth and Parker (if for nothing more than the adorableness of the moment) to address it, at least sometime in the future. Because kids are observant, they pick up on these things.
Anyway, I'm all for them waiting until they have a game plan, but I really don't want to see the 'Gilmore Girls effect' (because face it, there's always the threat of Sully coming back, whether any of us will admit it or not)...or them finally realizing they're crazy for each other, getting together, and working things out within the last half of the final season. If it happens in the final season, fine, but I want to see things out. Work through their feelings/reaizations/other issues...as a couple. Realistically speaking (and this IS FOX, so who knows), we probably only have three, maybe four seasons left. It seems like a lot, but in the long run it really isn't considering how much things have progressed in the last four seasons.

Well boy do I regret mentioning Grey's now! It was just a first example that popped into my head of how a relationship has sort of made me dislike a show.
Also, I did not know that bit of information regarding Hart Hanson's point of view (I go out of my way to avoid reading nearly all Bones-related news as I don't want to read spoilers).
The problem I have with B&B actually getting together in the show, as opposed to fic-land, is, can anyone name a show where the two lead characters got together, stayed together, encountered a few difficulties, and the interest in the show, and the quality of the show show was maintained? And I'm trying, but I can't. I really want then together, but perhaps the best way would be for them to get together towards the end of the second last series and then incorporate them as a stable couple (i.e. not on-again/off-again) into the show. That would be good. It would allow for the development of a relationship without wrecking the viewers heads...

The closer is a good example. I do, however, agree with the getting together towards the end part. *sigh* I guess we'll see.

Fritz and Brenda ("The Closer") are a VERY good example of a stable couple. LOVE THEM.

Re: Booth and Bones As a Couple? Yay or Nay?
I'm a total shipper, and would love to see B&B together, but I don't want them to jump the shark to quickly and have the show end after season 5. I want this to be a long running successful show- -like Gilmore Girls in it's day- but if you pair them up together by having them sleep together, have Temperance get pregnant and everything we want so soon, the show will end. So hopefully the writers know what they are doing with this season finale, cause i don't want to see this show end so soon.

I don't watch the Closer and so can't comment on that, but isn't it worrying that people can only really think of one good example? In all of tv-land?

Re: Booth and Bones As a Couple? Yay or Nay?
Well, not in all of tv land. I mean, if we go wide, Friends had Monica and Chandler together for quite a few seasons and most people loved them. Farscape was all about the on/off thing between Cricthon/Aeryn with non-stop declarations of love and dying for each other AND a pregnancy. And I'm sorry but it rocked. Prison Break is all about the MiSa love/Relationship. I think even CSI had Grissom and Sara in some sort of relationship for a couple of seasons.
I don't know. Someone who's watched more tv can probably help more.

I'd add a married couple Allison and Joe DuBois from "Medium" to the list of good functioning tv relationships.

Never mind me. I'm beginning to think I don't have enough tv knowledge for this debate
So I'll just go with get together eventually, but please don't screw it up!

Re: Booth and Bones As a Couple? Yay or Nay?
Definitely 'YAY'! And having read all your comments I have to agree with all of you.
Together in a happy, stable relationship is not that difficult. I'm sure the writers and everyone who produces the show can come up with reasonable and valid story-lines. Not just between our two heroes, but cases as well.
I'd love to see them together for at least a season, and I'm sure if the show's PTB have probs coming up with stories they can always go have a look at fanfic!
