hi poly! how was/is your saturday?

So . . I never really even said hello until a few months ago when we were without power for three days. I got to "know" a few of my neighbors at that time. However, Maria cataloged ALL of our discussion and has since leveraged those few moments of conversation into an endless list of opportunities to involve me in her life. . . as well as her eleven year old daughter's.

Aw...he's so cute when he gives her the tool kit...

and jonez... sounds like an opportunist. but if she's led that sort of a life, I wouldn't expect anything else.

hiya phoebs!

Since that one conversation I have been asked to fix her computer, and watch her daughter and when all of the carpet in her apartment was replaced a few weeks back all of her furniture and most of her belongings ended up in my apartment . . . I have played dumb and disinterested (although I am not playing on the disinterested) while she has grilled me about my work, love life, absence of family and so on. Now anytime she knocks on my door seeing if I need anything - a run to the grocery store, a meal, and so forth. As a thank you for helping them so often they have treated me to dinner, twice. Today, I was brought a plate of food and then she asked me if I wanted her to do my laundry . . .

So . . the other night, when invited to dinner we are getting into her car - parked beside mine and she comments that she "couldn't help but notice I had a receipt with a coupon on the back for where she would like to go eat and would I mind getting it for our use?" My car is under covered parking - no light on it and the windows are fairly darkly tinted. I opened the passenger door and she pointed to the paper ON THE FLOOR, nearly UNDER THE SEAT!!!

lets see all I have done today was run to marshalls buy yet another dress for yet another friends wedding and then do homework all day!

I'm tired. I wish I could've taken a nap...

Hmm. You have found a definite fan, that's for sure. But how come you call her now a 'stalker' but the other day, well, weeks ago you sounded interested? But I admit, you pictured her as being extremely pushy. Well, you have to make up your mind what you want...but I have a feeling a causal relationship is just not your cup of tea.

poly: good to accomplish things! I spent my entire day sitting in a room in the library wasting time doing this orientation for the journal I'm on... the first couple of hours of which was spent reading aloud and warning us repeatedly not to shirk any responsibilities... I mean, come on. We're adults, and law students, as well as most of us are extremely Type A. We get it. THEN with only maybe 1.5 hours left they say, ok well here's your first assignment, do it now! So we were supposed to finish at 4 30 but I didn't get out of there until a bit after 5 :-(.

"Do you always look in my car?" I asked. She "confessed she tends to notice when I go out and come back and how I seldom if ever leave my apartment. A few minutes later at dinner, the daughter blurts out they had been speculating (prior to meeting me) that I must leave my car and drive my wife's as they never saw my car move . . . They were both delighted when it was discovered I was divorced. She is about 6 years older than I am and is dropping less than subtle hints and finding all sorts of lame excuses to engage me in her world. Among her out of the blue conversations is her stage of menopause, free time, schedule when she is around and her daughter is not . . etc. Now, after I turned her down for doing my laundry I was invited to the movies or she will "stop by later tonight to see me . . ."

Creepy...

wow jonez. that's... man. I don't know what to tell you. Hide behind your couch when she knocks on your door tonight?

Although maybe that's just how she works... you said she's had several husbands... maybe she's just used to being on the prowl and doing this sort of thing to "capture" the men she is interested in.

ugh I hate that I left a reception early yesterday as it was supposed to be so we could all get to know each other but they had us playing stupid games what are we in kindergarten we are all in grad school obvisally we are not that dumb!

Along with such comments as "You're so quiet over there . . ." and other odd statements.
