Jewish thing called the Three Weeks. Historically it's from ancient times, when Jerusalem was seiged by the Romans for three weeks before the Temple was destroyed. Nowadays it starts with a fast on the 17th of Tammuz (one of the Jewish months) and then continues for three weeks where you can't listen to music, have weddings or get haircuts. (Or beat your children, but that's not so well known) It ends on the 9th of Av (the Jewish month when I was born; I was actually born on the 8th of Av) with another, really long fast. This is the day that the Temple was actually destroyed. On that day, we read the book of Aycha, Lamentations (?). I go to a woman's reading. It's read by candle light, sitting on the floor and chanted by different women. I got season 5 out of the library to watch Forever cause Angel was in that and then I was working and needed something to watch and there was the Body, which was fantastic. Absolutely incredible. As Spike rides off, he says "when I get back you'll be sorry" (or something like that) not "oh Buffy, I'm getting my soul for you so I can be the man you deserve". The rewrote canon in season 7 and it perpetuates an evil myth! I'm writing a thereputic treatise on why Buffy and Angel belong together.
