The Booth & Brennan Friendship

After viewing the 100th episode do you think that Booth and Brennan's friendship is going to suffer because of the "end scene"? Do you think we will still get the moments and fun bantering? Do you think they will be comfortable around each other?

IMO, it is going to suffer and it will be awkward from here on out.

After seeing the 100th episode I definately think the next six episodes are going to be majorly awkward. I think there will be occasional bickering and moments but I think after the big talks in the last episode I definately think things will be a while lot different between them. I think we may have to wait til the finale to see if their relationship will remain this way for good

DB and HH has said there will be a major shift with the characters. Maybe this will put that criptic remark more in context.

I think it will be awkward, I mean how can it not? They have had such an honest relationship, with the exception of admitting their feelings. They are best friends and they have put that above all of their underlying feelings. It was easier to be in a surrogate relationship then it was to rock that boat and risk losing it all. Now the feelings are out there, and there was rejection-how do you go back to "just friends" or "just partners" after that line has been crossed? . If it were me, I'd feel wierd about it..
Honestly I hope there is some angst in there and they don't play it off as if it never happened. IMO this is a good stepping stone for them, things needed to be shaken up, and with the upcoming episodes it will show them what they could have and what they have lost. They can get through this, and it will be one heck of an emotional roller coaster in the process.

It will probably awkward and they probably won't have the same kind of B&B banter that they usually do and I think Booth's rebound Dr. will probably make the two even more uncomfortable and jealous but hopefully everything will be okay at the end.

Not knowing entirely what's happened - though I've a good idea - I will say that HH did tell everyone that B&B Shippers and fans would "Hate us for three or four shows, then they'll be dancing in the streets" so basically yeah, it's gonna be awkward when one person puts it all out there and the other person says "Sorry, I don't feel the same way.", but by the end of the season it'll be back - in fact the GD trial probably serves as the catalyst for that. Just a thought.

^I think you are right. And honestly-I have the episode downloading now-yeah I'm bad-I want to see it so bad I can't wait another 8 1/2 hours LOL. However, I think I love Hart a little bit right now-my little shipper heart is somewhat crushed, but the way this episode plays out sounds absolutely brilliant.

I'm kinda worried about the whole B&B relationship now after seeing this episode... I loved it, don't get me wrong, but I'm kinda freaking out now worrying that they won't ever get together... Are they supposed to be hooking up later on in the show? Or did people change their minds?

Well HH & DB have both said in the past that they think it's best for he show if they never really hook up - both are believers in the "Moonlighting Curse" and HH specifically has stated that giving the fans what they want (B*B) would ruin the show and decimate the ratings (which in the end is all the networks care about). DB feels, I think from a creative side, that B*B should remain friends/partners - a love not entirely unrequited, but one where the barriers between them are such that only briefly are they breached. He likes the complexity of their relationship as it is and has said before he thinks getting the two together would ruin things.

Personally I think HH knows if he fails to deliver in some form this season he's going to lose a large chunk of his audience - I also think he only came to this realization after the S4 fiasco. Recall the S4 finale, while all important and widely regarded now, was a disaster of epic proportions last year, with even fans and defenders of HH admitting it should have been a mid-season show and not a finale, and HH himself apologizing in print to the fans for how it was handled. He's learned a LOT since then and knows that you can't really toy with, or piss off, the rabid majority of B*B shippers, so while I think he'd love nothing more than to keep them apart until the last five minutes of the last episode ever, he'll give us a hookup this season in the S5 finale, and then follow through with the 1yr time jump that has them restarting their relationship from 0 in S6.

Is that better or worse than nothing at all? I don't know.

I think that Hart has put himself in a position that he can't backtrack out of. This is real and this is the most progress B&B have ever made. I believe we will see a resolution in this year's season finale. They may not be "together" per say but I trust that there will be a huge step in the right direction. I think Brennan will admit her feelings to Booth in the last scene in the finale and picking up next season we will see them navigate this new territory.
HH is not dumb. He can say he doesn't want them together and drag his feet all he wants. But obviously he has realized the time has come to test those waters. He could have done a complete 360 after last season's finale, but he didn't. He progressed the relationship instead of regressed it. And yes, he is right to a point, if he just threw them together it would lose it's spark. I personally love the direction the show is going right now and even though it's difficult emotionally, it will only make the payoff that much better.

I love HH but if anyone needs to grow a set it's him and take the chance and do it! Bring them together and then face the challenge of keeping it good.

Don't feel dumb, but like MI_Bonesgirl said, HH has put himself in a position he can't backtrack out of now - we'll see some resolution of the B*B relationship by the season finale. And yes, I think we'll see them explore their feelings in S6 - a real relationship might be out of the question even then, but as long as they move forward, there's some kissing, and eventually they figure it out before S7, I'll find a way to manage.

I no longer call it B+B, but B*B since the sum is greater than the whole of the parts...little math geekdom for y'all.

I completely agree. I think HH is very cautious about B&B getting together because he thought that would ruin the show, but after the S4 finale, I think he realized that if B&B don't make any progress in their relationship then they would lose many viewers because the shippers who make up a huge portion of the the fan base. I don't think that they will "get together", but something will happen in the finale that will move B&B in the right direction.

Ok, I feel a little better knowing that they'll move forward, but would still like to see them hook up sometime...
