Deal!
I have two boys and for Christmas they got an electric guitar and drums! They need a tutor and I'm sure they'll love to hang on your every word.
And a singing alarm sounds pretty cool too!

If you look up introvert in the dictionary, there should be a picture of my father. He does have a buddy from work and is certainly on good terms with his other coworkers, but I have no idea how much he talks to them about this stuff. Though, since he's going to be in and out so much, he should tell them, and hopefully accept their good wishes, no matter that he hates fusses (I don't necessarily call that a fuss, but I know him, too). No KoC, nothing like that, and unfortunately the siblings he's closest to are a lot like him. *sigh* Well, so am I, and I got over some of it. If any of this ordeal alters him that way, then at least one good thing will come out of this.DBCrazy wrote:I can imagine he's old school. Is he in KoC or something like that? Maybe somebody at work? He could do well with somebody just to buddy up with, even if "talking" and emotions aren't part of it.
I'm glad it's very treatable. Just knowing that helps I'm sure. I was wondering about his tolerance of meds because chemo can make you sick but they do have nausea meds too. If he can take those that will be a boon for him and his outlook and moods.
I've heard about some of the side effects and he's likely to have a rough time of it. Crossed fingers that he tells them when it's too much so that they can give him whatever to ease it. And Grandma aside, if they need me, I'm there, but will definitely wait to be called upon!

I don't know how you feel about doing a little intervention. Might you say something to this guy, to see if he feels comfortable saying something to your father?dawnsfire wrote:If you look up introvert in the dictionary, there should be a picture of my father. As for the meds maybe you can have your mom BE SURE to emphasize for him to ask for the nausea meds. As for Grandma/Parents possible conflict in schedule, that might be something to try to figure on, maybe someone you could call if you need some extra help. Then let your mom know.

Well, I don't know him, but if Mom sees him, that's a possibility, and I will definitely pass on the stuff about the nausea meds; I know she's attended a lot of the dr appts so far, so I'm sure she might be able to bring it up. If she does it right, the dr can even explain the benefits before Dad has a chance to get stubborn. If he chooses to be right now, that is.DBCrazy wrote:I don't know how you feel about doing a little intervention. The scheduling thing--if it's only a day or two, there'll be no problems. And Grandma has good neighbors.

Reminds me of a friend telling me about the neighbor dog with the wireless electric fence. He'd start yelping about 3' early and help down the road, but he'd be free!
You might not want to know about the bit, but I'll bet you're interested in the whip! I'm right, huh?

Yeah, okay buzzkill McGee - so that part of my schtick fell flat. Yep, the bit goes between the teeth unless they're broke to a hackmore, which I actuall prefer - the difference between a hackmore and a standard bit on a horse is like power steering and standard rack and pinion.DBCrazy wrote:Rob, aren't you a ? LMAO! I know, those things aren't really that effective on dogs that want to get free but they work wonders on kids and drunk guys. I keep telling my neighbor, who has three kids and a fourth on the way, to get one so his wife doesn't run herelf ragged chasing after the kids. Makes sense to me. Then again I liked the idea of the Victorian work house...Reminds me of a friend telling me about the neighbor dog with the wireless electric fence. He'd start yelping about 3' early and help down the road, but he'd be free!
Oh the whip, riding crops, all sorts of restraints...yep, and don't misbehave either...You might not want to know about the bit, but I'll bet you're interested in the whip! I'm right, huh?

See ya!
It's a very nice hotel, but there are disadvantages to paying over $200 a night for a room. Haha I'd never be able to afford this on my own though, (actually Jim gets a free night and we got a free upgrade to a better room). But it's not like I'll ever get to stay here again, so I'm just gonna enjoy it.
