#1--too late! Long time pack rat here, although more than half (probably) are reading materials and writing supplies. Cue the burly men! (I am getting rid of some things, too...can we say spring garage sale? With charity getting whatever's left, I guess.)G-Woman wrote:My first rule is don't aquire too much stuff, (it makes the job so much easier if you move a lot), which I have broken badly this time. Second rule is don't get too sentimental over things. Which is hard right now because I am a wee bit... shall we say emotional. Third rule is everything falls into two categories, want or need. I'll sort through the 'want' pile like 20 times and find it gets reduced every time. Boxes are good to find at liquour stores or supermarkets... packing tape is your friend. Also finding a bunch of big strong burly men to move stuff helps both the eye and the back. and.... charitys are usually more than happy to accept unwanted items. Sometimes, they'll even pick stuff up.dawnsfire wrote:It's going around... Any tips, G?
I've heard about the grocery store, and since at least a few things will be stored in the basement, I understand I might be able to get a couple palattes there as well.
Very good point about the emotional--trying very hard not to be!

Re: The Venting Thread
I can appreciate the emotional aspect. I still recall the emotions stirred up by my last move - mostly homicidal rage. The move lasted 19 hours, and the very last things I moved were my deer rifle and my fowler. That's when the guy driving the truck had the balls to ask me if I was finally ready to go 'cause his men were getting paid a flat rate and this move was costing them money. I didn't bother to point out that if they hadn't shown up four hours late or taken a three hour lunch we'd be done. Instead I reminded myself that shooting the bastard would, at the minimum, cost me at least one good gun.dawnsfire wrote:#1--too late! Re: The Venting Thread
Fucking MSN! If I wanted to know who won the damn medals before the event is shown, I'd google it to try to find out, but I don't appreciate pulling up MSN.com to check the regular news and find a huge headline about who won the gold in the snowboarding event. Seriously, why the hell can't they have a link to find out the winners if you want to? Even the tv news shows warn you before they reveal the winners. So now if I don't want to know, I can't keep up with any news for the next two weeks, apparently...

Re: The Venting Thread
Again I agree..get out of my head!!! Spending all of my life as part of the military has made me detest moving. I have often thought that one should be able to grab their personal effects and just move..no movers, boxes, packing material, or trucks involved! Thank goodness I am on my last one..next move will be the final one!THX1138 wrote:I can appreciate the emotional aspect. Re: The Venting Thread
So, they have decided at work that all the people that couldn't make it in last week because of the snow don't have to use their vacation...the company is paying for the days off. Well, that's all fine and well, but what about the people that kicked ass to get in during those days?? What do we get? A big thank you and a $4 lunch that day. I should have just stayed home and curled up in my jammies...

Re: The Venting Thread
UGH! There is this girl in my class who told me that "Bones is stupid." I was like, have you ever seen it?
She was like, "Yeah, once a while ago, there was this guy, Dr. Bones, I think, and he found something... Whatever, I don't know, It's stupid."
She only found out the name Dr. Bones because I was talking about it with my other friends...
Might I say that I strongly dislike this girl now?

I hate when people say that, but they have never watched an episode at all. My sister always says it's stupid, so i ignore her cause I know she is 100% wrong

Warning... language alert!
Do you know what tops this absolutely marvelous day? *please note sarcasm* That I sat down to emotionally vent to a hockey game and the Canadians promptly let in two goals to the Swiss. The fucking Swiss. Fuck. Since there was a language alert I should take advantage of it. Fuck. Fuck fuckity fuck. Okay. I am done. and sorry.
