Chapter 1: Wedding Dresses
“Oh Angela- you ‘ave to git that one.” Kat said. Angela stood up on the platform in front of a full length mirror. The dress was a white, strapless, floor length gown that had a deep, crimson red sash loosely tied around the high cut waist. Small bunches of lace, pearls, and crystal like stones were sown to the top of the dress, giving it a floral like appearance. The same thing had been done on parts of the skirt and the hemline. Bits of fabric on the back of the skirt trailed behind her.
“Yeah,” Tobie said- “I’m with Kat on this one. You look like something out of a story book.”
“Think so?” Angela asked spinning around.
“Oh definitely.” Kat said nodding.
“Too bad the maid of honor isn’t here to give me her opinion!” Angela called loudly.
“You’re maid of honor is finding you a veil!” Brennan called from the other end of the store.
“How can you do that when you don’t know what the dress looks like?” Tobie shouted.
“I have an idea of what she’d pick out!” Brennan retorted. “It’s Angela we’re talking about-“
“Good point.” Angela said.
“Does your dress have a color trim or anything?” Brennan asked spotting what seemed like the perfect veil on the top shelf.
“Red sash.” Kat said.
“It’s more like an apple color.” Tobie said turning her head to the side.
“Really?” Angela said. “It seems more ruby to me.”
“No- it’s too dark to be ruby.” Kat said. “It’s sorta like a blood red.” Brennan shook her head.
“How many different types of red can there be?!” She asked reaching up for the veil.
“Well, a lot.” Tobie said.
“Yeah sweetie. There’s fire truck red, crimson red, rose red, blood red, light red…”
“Light red is more of a pink though.” Tobie said.
“But they still call it red.” Angela replied.
“Ok- I get it.” Brennan said coming around the corner. “There’s a lot of reds out there. What do you think of this?” She asked pulling her find from behind her back. The veil was lace, and it was more of a hood than a veil. A deep red, a shade darker than the one on Angela’s dress, lined the outline of it and there was a small clasp at the front.
“Oh- that is absolutely something Angela would wear.” Kat said. Tobie nodded.
“See, told you” Brennan said sitting down on the platform over from Angela’s.
“I wonder if they have a sash in that color- I’m going to go look.” Tobie said standing up. She was 3 months pregnant now, but you could hardly tell. “You want to help me Molly?” She asked looking down at the little girl who had patiently been coloring under Kat’s chair. Molly nodded and jumped out from under the chair, following closely behind Tobie. Angela had put the hood on and was now looking at the complete ensemble in the mirror.
“Oh- Angela you are a vision!” Kat said. “You look like one o’ ‘em girls in those magazines.” Angela laughed.
“Wow- that is a gorgeous dress.” Came Cam’s voice. Everyone looked over. “Sorry I’m late, I was, uh, in the middle of doing something.”
“More like someone.” Came Angela’s response. Cam couldn’t hide the blush creeping up her neck. After she and Sully left O’ Brien’s that night, something just clicked. They’d been dating since.
“So, how is it?” Kat asked.
“What?” Cam asked, slightly shocked.
“Oh come on- Tempe and Angela told me all about Sully’s little nickname.” Kat said grinning. “Were they righ’ or ova’exaggerating?” Cam hung her head.
“They were right.” She muttered. The trio couldn’t help but laugh.
“Look what we found.” Tobie said immerging from the back of the store. “Deep dark red sash to match that veil.” She walked up to the group, sash in hand, Molly on her back.
“Molly!” Kat scolded. “Yea can’t be gettin’ piggy back rides from Tobie anymore- she shouldn’t be havin that weight on hea back.” Molly reluctantly slid off and resumed her coloring under the chair.
“It’s ok Kat- I’m fine.”
“ ‘S not ok.” Kat said defiantly.
“Tobie, you should know what the added stress on your back could do.” Brennan added. “Besides, didn’t your doctor say no heavy, heavy lifting?” Cam nodded.
“I’d listen to them sweetie.” Angela said adjusting the new sash.
“Thank you moms-“ Tobie said plopping down onto her chair.
“There.” Angela said- “How does it look now?”
“Even better now that the reds match.” Brennan said pulling out her camera.
“I think I like this one best.” Angela said twirling around. “I feel like a little girl playing dress up.” She said laughing.
“Hey- bride to be look this way-“ Brennan said. Angela did some mock poses for the camera that sent everyone into a fit of hysterics.
“Is everything ok over here?” A sales attendant asked. The attendants had been rather cross with the bridal party since they set foot in the store.
“Just peachy.” Kat said. “Thanks for asking.” Another group of women entered the store. The attendant looked over her shoulder.
“If you need anything I’ll be back soon.”
“I’m sure she will.” Tobie muttered under her breath.
“Let’s see the other stuff you’ve tried on-“ Cam said. Brennan tossed her the camera and she went through the pictures. “I have to agree- that’s the best dress by far.” Cam said tossing the camera back.
“Alright- voting time!” Angela said.
“Dress?”
“That one-“ Everyone said simultaneously.
“Veil?”
“That one-“ They all said again.
“Alrighty then- now that my dress is picked out- my lovely bridesmaids and flower girl need theirs.” Angela said walking into the dressing room. “The color ok? This red color?”
“That’s fine-“ Brennan called after her.
“No qualms here-“ Kat said.
“Now we just have to pick a style” Cam said standing up. The group headed out to the racks of dresses.
“Just keep in mind- I’m growing.” Tobie said.
“Really?” Kat said. “It’s a little hard to believe a little person is in there.” She said tapping Tobie’s stomach. Cam laughed.
“You haven’t gained any weight at all.” She added.
“Yes I have-“ Tobie said, pouting slightly. “I gained 7 lbs.”
“Oh, wow- 7 lbs.” Kat said in mock amusement. “When I was at three months with this little monster I’d gained twice that much.”
“Everyone’s different.” Brennan interjected. “So, should we each take a rack?” The others looked at the sea of bridesmaids dresses.
“Sounds like a plan.” Cam said.
“Alright- ready- set go!” Tobie said- they all took off towards the dresses.
“Hey- I think I found something.” Cam called. Kat looked over at her.
“The bow on that thing is hideous.” She said laughing. Brennan looked over as well.
“Oh dear God-“ She said “It’s right in the middle of the chest- it’s an eyesore!”
“Put it back!” Kat said laughing.
“Hey guys- check this one out.” Tobie said. She held out the most horrifying dress ever. It was bright lime green with huge sleeves and a giant bow around the waist.
“Why would anyone buy that?” Brennan asked.
“Because some brides want their bridesmaids to look horrible- that way all attention is on them.” Cam said. “Been there, done that, never doing it again.”
“Well, then you better be happy I’m not one of those brides.” Came Angela’s voice. “Anyone found anything that isn’t a sin against fashion?” The others shook their heads.
“Nope-“
“Not really.”
“Um-“
“Nada”
“Well, then keep looking!” Angela said looking through some dresses on the rack closest to her. Half an hour later, they had found 4 or 5 dresses each and were holding their own little fashion show while Angela snapped pictures.
“Yeah- work it!” She said laughing as Tobie sauntered down the platform. All four bridesmaids tossed one another different dresses to try on- laughing and shouting the whole time. The other bridal party shot them all dirty looks, and the attendants did as well. Finally, It was little Molly’s turn to come out in the flower girl dress Angela and Kat had picked out for her. She came out of the dressing room followed by Kat in a mini version of Angela’s dress. The only difference was that it came to her knees instead of down to the floor-
“Oh- she’s so adorable.” Cam said. “But- the dress seems a little old for her without the sleeves.”
“Oh! Oh!” Tobie said. “I have an idea.” She ran over and took a red sash of the display. “We can take this and do something like this-“ She said folding the sash around Molly- “There- all we have to do is either sew that or find a seamstress and she has sleeves.”
“Now- she looks adorable.” Brennan said snapping a picture.
“Ok- so we have bridesmaids dress options, and a flower girl dress.”
“We need to pick a dress for us.” Tobie said.
“Ok- well, I like those two the best.” Cam said.
“I like that one- but not that one.” Brennan said.
“Same.” Said Kat.
“Hey- as long as it’s not that butt ugly halter I have no qualms.” Tobie said.
“Ok- so we’re all good with this one?” Brennan asked holding the dress up. It was a simple satin sleeveless, tea length dress the color of Angela’s sash, with a thin piece of fabric running across the middle and a small rhinestone buckle in the middle. Everyone nodded.
“Ok- onto shoes and accessories!” The group made their way over to shoes and accessories, where the other bridal group was.
“Now- everyone pick something they’re comfortable wearing.” Angela said. “I don’t want to hear anyone complaining because their feet are killing them. I expect you all to dance the night away you hear!”
“Aye aye cap’n.” Tobie said looking at a pair of three inch heels.
“Ok- do we want 'em white or same color as tha dresses?” Kat asked.
“White would give it an accent.” Cam suggested.
“Yeah, and then we don’t have to worry about getting them dyed.” Brennan said.
“Sounds good to me.” Angela said, “Yours will be white, mine will be red.”
“Oh, look at these!” Cam said holding up a pair of high, high heels. “The heel must me 5 inches at least!”
“Hooker heels!” Angela joked, “I have a pair like that in my closet somewhere.”
“Angela- there somethin’ you want to tell us?” Kat joked.
“Hey- everyone has their dirty little secrets.” Angela said with a wink. Another hour and a half later, the trio walked out of the store dress bags and shopping bags in hand.
“Ok- so now that that’s out of the way- who’s hungry?” Angela asked.
“I’m starving.” Tobie said.
“You’re always starving.” Kat said with a laugh.
“I have an excuse.” Tobie retorted.
“How about we swing by Sid’s?” Brennan suggested throwing the bags into the car.
“Sounds good” Angela said. “I still have plans to finalize with him anyway.”
“I always hear you guys talk about that place but I’ve never been there.” Cam said.
“Well, today is your lucky day.” Angela said opening the passenger side door. “Follow us over there.” She said. Cam headed towards her car. “Should we call the guys?” Angela asked. Brennan pulled out her cell.
“Don’t see why not.”
well, what'd you guys think?

Ok- so things are pretty twisted and gruesome from here on out regarding the case…so um, consider this your warning- if it gets too bad for anyone then feel free to email me and I’ll send you a synopsis of any major plot developments. And for those of you who sent those bitchy flames: fuck off… and no I don’t have sociopathic tendencies… this is a case scenario, if you have problems with this kinda stuff then why are you watching the show? oh- thanks to those of you who brought up the hyoid thing from boy in the tree-- that's addressed in this chappie
Brennan stared across the platform at the 14 tiny corpses that lay on the examination table. 14 innocent children who would never get the chance to have a life. An icy jolt ran down her spine, chilling her entire body. “How could someone do this?” She asked herself. Sighing, she closed her eyes and went into work mode, detaching herself from everything but the evidence and details. Hodgins’ voice broke through her thoughts.
“The insect activity indicates that the bodies have been there from anywhere between 2 and 4 weeks.” Brennan involuntarily shuddered. How could no one notice something like this?
“The victims all died the same way.” Her voice was cold and detached. “Strangulation.” Tobie and Zack had joined them on the platform.
“Wait- I thought that the hyoid-“ Brennan cut Tobie off.
“In infants, the muscles are still developing.” She explained. “Leaving some children at higher risk than others.” Tobie nodded solemnly. Brennan drifted off the platform, tossing her gloves into a nearby trash can. “I’m going to see if Booth found anything.” She said. “Zack, clean the bones, and Tobie- you can help him if you want.” She said carefully. Tobie looked at the examination tables. Her hand instinctively went over her stomach. Zack watched her closely.
“You don’t have to.” He said preparing himself for the task at hand.
“No, I can, I mean, well, I have to get used to this kinda thing sometime right?” She said shakily.
“No one ever gets used to this.” Zack said under his breath.
xXxXxXx
Booth wandered into the foyer of the lab. A depression seemed to have overcome the lab and the squints in it. How could it not? They were dealing with a serial killer whose victims were babies. Booth mentally cursed the SOB who would be twisted enough to do something like this. Sliding his keycard he joined Hodgins and Cam up on the platform.
“I have DNA.” Cam said. “From the victims-“ Her voice faltered slightly. “And so far, we also have 5 matches.” Booth nodded and looked at the info she had pulled up on the computer.
“Victim 1- 6 month old Hannah Morrison. Born January 17th, 2007 to a 17 year old mother at St. John’s. Victim 2-“ Cam went down the line, each child that she had been able to match seemed to have been born to a mother between 17 and 20 years old. Booth ran a hand over his face. Brennan joined them.
“What have you found?” She asked.
“We’ve been able to positively identify 5 of the victims.” Cam said absently. “We’re processing the others.” Brennan nodded. Tobie came out of one of the lab rooms, slightly paled.
“You’re off as of now.” Brennan said without looking up. Tobie nodded and headed for the bathrooms. Zack emerged from the room a few minutes later, looking around.
“Bathrooms.” Hodgins supplied from his spot on the platform. Zack nodded and went to find Tobie. Brennan sighed and slumped into a nearby chair. With a few more clicks at the computer, Cam was able to pull up the identities of the remaining babies.
“Now that we have the names, let’s go find the families.” Booth said. “Bones?” Brennan snapped out of whatever reality she had been in.
“Right-“ She said standing up.
xXxXxXx
Zack cautiously opened the door to the women’s restroom down the hall from Angela’s office. Hand over his eyes, he stuck his head in and was meet with the sounds of wretching coming from inside. Carefully brining his hand down, he checked to make sure no one else was in there before locking the door behind him and looking for Tobie. She was in the last stall down, hunched over the toilet. Zack carefully leaned over and helped hold her hair back.
“Thanks.” She gasped. A few minutes passed before she leaned back. “Why do they call it morning sickness?” She wondered. “It’s more like an all day thing,.” Zack smirked and joined her on the floor.
“You ok?” He asked. She nodded slightly.
“Sorry for running out.” She said quietly. Zack stopped her before she said anything else.
“No worries.” He said. Her eyes were watering up.
“Who could do something like that?” She asked, her voice barely passed as a squeak. “Just take all those lives- they hadn’t even lived that long- it’s just…. It’s….” Tears slowly trickled down her face. “How do you get used to dealing with something like that?” She asked. Zack shook his head and pulled her close.
“You never get used to something like that.” He said slowly. “I’ve never even seen anything like that.”
“But you and Dr. Brennan handle it….”
“Not really.” He sighed. “Dr. Brennan once told me that you had to focus on the details- only the details and the evidence when working with children’s bodies.” Tobie quickly wiped her eyes after a few minutes.
“So, just the details huh?” She asked. Zack nodded.
“It’s all you can do.” He admitted. “Otherwise, how are you going to catch the killer?”
xXxXxXx
Brennan stared blankly out the window. Bits and pieces of the past 2 hours worth of conversations played through her head again and again. The faces of the young mothers haunted her mind. Tears streamed down their faces as they sobbed, blaming themselves for the ghastly misfortune. They had received a lead as it turned out. Each of the mothers had put their child up for adoption sometime after they were born, wanting their kids to have a better life than they could give them. That had hit Brennan especially hard. They had all gone through the same service. A man by the name of Shaun Williams who guaranteed that the babies would be given to loving parents. Brennan shuddered. How could someone use the system like that? Take those innocent children and unjustly slaughter them?
Booth cast a glance Brennan’s way. She sat huddled in the passenger seat, eyes glazed over staring out the window at the road flying by. He let out a small sigh. The bit about each of those kids being put up for adoption had hit her hard, he knew that. He could tell she was trying not to let it affect her, on the outside, she was doing a pretty good job. But on the inside, he could tell she was falling apart. He reached over and clasped a hand over hers. Startled by the sudden contact, Brennan jumped a little before remember where she was. Booth squeezed her hand reassuringly. Brennan sighed and leaned back in the seat again.
“We’re going to catch him.” Booth said softly. Brennan nodded.
“I know.”
xXxXxXx
Booth dropped Brennan off at the lab before heading to the Hoover Building. Walking through the front doors, he spotted Sully.
“Hey- did you do that background check?” He asked. Sully nodded.
“Aside from a DUI about 2 years ago nothing- clean as a whistle.” Booth mentally cursed.
“This guy did it, I know he did it. We just need to catch him somehow.” Sully smirked.
“I was hoping you’d say that.” He said pulling a file from behind his back. “Turns out, he’s been in contact with one Meghan Lacy.” Booth took the file. “19 year old girl with a 7 month old son, Brayden. Parenthood is a little much for her, so she wants to set her kid up with a good home. Contacted Williams about a week ago- he’s supposed to pick up the baby from her in two days.” Booth nodded reading over the file.
“We need to get her help on this.” Booth said closing the folder. Sully nodded.
“Way ahead of you-“ He said. “Ms. Lacy is willing to meet with us in an hour at the diner.”
“Us?” Booth asked raising an eyebrow.
“What?” Sully asked innocently. “You’d think I’m going to sit this one out?” Booth shook his head.
“Guess we’d better get going.” He sighed walking out the doors.

Meghan Lacy was a skinny, tall, pale skinned girl. Her dark brown hair covered her face as she curled up in her seat at the diner. In the seat next to her was a baby carrier. The little boy inside was sound asleep, tucked away under a layer of blankets. Booth and Sully walked into the diner, spotting the teen they sat down across from her.
“Ms. Lacy?” Booth said slowly. “I’m Special Agent Seeley Booth, and this is Special Agent Tim Sullivan, I believe you spoke with him earlier?” The young girl nodded. “And, do you understand why we need your help with this?” The girl nodded again.
“I don’t want him hurt.” She said softly. “I want him to be in a good home, with good parents who can support him.” Booth nodded.
“Can you tell us how you came in contact with Shaun Williams?” He asked.
“I was doing some research on the internet.” Meghan answered. “I was looking for adoption agencies. His name popped up, references looked legit and everything so I emailed him. He said that there were a ton of families looking for kids and that he could get one lined up for Brayden in a week. He sent me some papers to sign, everything looked legit, so I signed and sent them back.”
“Do you have the address?” Booth asked.
“It’s at home.” Booth sighed.
“If it comes down to it, we may need to set up a sting-“ He started.
“With Brayden?” She asked, looking over at the sleeping baby. Booth nodded solemnly. She took her eyes away from the carrier for a brief moment. “I don’t want him to get hurt.” She said softly. “I love him I really do, it’s just, I can’t raise him right.”
“We’ll keep him safe.” Sully said assurignly. The girl nodded before turning her attention back to the carrier.

KAT! no one's betaíng these cuz i dont have time to wait for you to get your sorry ass online hahaha but if it makes you feel any better there's a new chapter of OHOAA in the making- you can beta that if you want

Chapter 3: Coping (did i spell that right?)
Brennan stared up at the bedroom cieling, unable to let sleep overtake her. Everytime she closed her eyes vivid images of the tiny corpses at the Jeffersonian flashed in her mind. The tiny bodies of babies who had done nothing to deserve their cruel fate. To make matters worse, a serial killer was using some twisted form of the system to get his victims. Slowly, she closed her eyes again but this time was met with the terror-stricken faces of the young mothers who had believed that their children were going to go to a good home; each blaming themselves for their children's deaths. Brennan's eyes flew open and she gasped for air. She sighed and ran a hand over her face. Sleep was not going to come easy tonight. Soft snoring from the man asleep next to her broke through her thoughts. Glancing over at Booth, she watched him sleep on his stomach, mouth slightly agape. She let a small grin grace her face before carefully pulling back the covers and heading out of the room. Softly shutting the door behind her she lightly padded down the hallway.
"Dr. Bones?" Brennan turned and saw Parker standing in the doorway of his room.
"Parker, what are you doing up?" Brennan knelt down to the little boy's level.
"I can't sleep." He said quietly. Brennan looked at him for a moment.
"Neither can I." She said with a small grin. "How about we get some hot chocolate?" Parker's head flopped back and forth reminding Brennan of a bobble-head. "Alright, let's go." Scooping Parker up in her arms they both headed to the kitchen.
xXxXxXx
Tobie sat up on the kitchen sink munching on a fluffernutter and grilled cheese sandwhich. Her thoughts revolved around the current case. How could someone be heartless enough to strangle innocent children? She took another bite of the sandwich. Swinnging her legs against the cupboards beneath her she picked at her food, one hand unconciously resting on her stomach.
Zack stood in the kitchen entry way watching Tobie swing her legs back and forth. He had heard banging coming from the kitchen and had decided to check on her. He found her on the counter eating a sandwich. He sighed lost in thought. The case had gotten under her skin; h3ll the case had gotten under his skin. It amazed him how people could just go around killing others without thought- and in this case innocent babies. He watched as her hand moved to her stomach. He shudder involuntarily; he couldn't imagine what those mothers were going through, and he hoped he would never have to. Next to Tobie was a jar of fluffernutter and a discarded cheese slice wrapper, along with the small George Foreman grill she had brought with her. He shook his head, realizing what is was that she was eating.
"You do realize how disgusting your cravings are right?" He asked walking over to her.
"Cravings? I ate this stuff before I got pregnant." Tobie said with a smirk.
"It's still disgusting."
"Don't diss it till you try it." She shoved the sandwhich into his face.
"Ew-" He said pushing it away.
"C'mon you know you want to." She joked. Zack screwed his face up. Tobie let out a loud laugh- clearly amused by his disgust. Zack brushed a stray hair out of her face and sighed.
"One bite." He said. Tobie laughed again and handed him the sandwich. Taking a bite, he chewed thoughtfully for a moment before turning his back on Tobie. "Mine." He said taking another bite.
"Not a chance buddy." Tobie said reaching for her sandwich. He turned and tried to avoid her, but she had wrapped her legs around his waist. He turned to face her. "This could turn out quite interesting." She said smirking. Wrapping his arms around her, Zack carried her off to their bedroom- the fluffernutter and grilled cheese sandwich forgotten on the counter.
xXxXxXx
A sharp pain in his neck woke Booth out of his sleep. Rolling onto his side he reached over to wrap his arm around Brennan, but was met with an empty side of the bed.
"Bones?" He asked looking around the empty room. Sighing, he stumbled out into the hall in a sleep induced haze. "Bones?" He asked again. He headed into the kitchen, but stopped and looked back at the couch. There lay Brennan, sound asleep, with her arms tightly wrapped around Parker. Two half empty mugs of hot chocolate sat on the small coffee table. Grinning he walked over and sat on the edge of the table. "Bones, hey Bones." He ran his hand along her jawline. She stirred a little and her eyes slowly opened.
"Booth?"
"Hey, c'mon let's get you both to bed." He said softly. "Sleep on this couch all night and you'll wake up with a sore back." He gently wrapped a hand around her arm and helped her up. He carefully took Parker from her and headed into the little boy's room. Once he was tucked in Booth went to join Brennan. He found her sitting on the edge of the bed, eyes glazed over.
"B-Tempe, are you ok?" His voice was laced with concern. Brennan looked up.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She said quitely.
"'Bones' fine or fine fine?" He asked sitting down.
"Is there a difference?" She asked looking up at him. Booth smirked.
"'Bones' fine is when you say you're fine when you're clearly not- fine fine is when you're, well, fine."
"Oddly enough, that made sense." She said smirking. A small silence passed between them. "'Bones' fine." She muttered. Booth wrapped an arm around her.
"Tomorrow, Sully and I are going to meet with Lacey tomorrow at the diner, and then she is meeting with the perp later on. We're going to catch this guy." He said firmly. Brennan leaned into him.
"I know- it's just, I can't help but see those mother's faces, the babies corpses- every time I close my eyes I see them and I can't help but think 'what if that was Tobie's baby? Or Molly? Or Parker?' and I...it's irrational I know but..."
"It's not irrantional." Booth interjected. "It's called being a parent, and an aunt. You see these kids and you can't help but think 'what if they were mine?'" Brennan looked up at Booth. She could see the pain and worry etched in his face and realized he was going through the same thing she was. She now understood how he felt these past years when they had cases that involved children. She rested a hand on his arm causing him to look up.
"C'mon." She said. "Let's go to bed." Brennan pulled the covers back and laid down. Booth followed, wrapping an arm tightly around her waist and pulling her close. Brennan closed her eyes and smiled. Maybe she would sleep tonight.
xXxXxXx
Kat watched her sleeping daughter closely that night. After the events at the park, she couldn't help but worry about her daughter. There was a shadow behind her. She turned around and came face to face with Mike- her boyfriend. They had been dating for sometime now, and were what she believed was really serious.
"Hey." She said turning back to Molly.
"Hey baby- c'mon let's go to bed." He said softly.
"You go- I'll be ther' in a minute." Mike sighed.
"Seirously- she's fine- let's go." He grabbed her arm. A cold chill ran up her spine. Instinctivley she pulled away.
"Mike- just give me a few minutes." She said.
"Look," He said. "I didn't want it to come down to this, but you spend all of your free time with her- or your sister and her friends, and well, you can either have them, or me." Kat turned to face him. Her eyes narrowed. "I love you, and I want to spend time with you, but that's hard to do with a 4 year old and that other brat running around here, or you talking with your sister and her friends on the phone- so, either them or me."
"What?" She asked.
"You heard me. I want to be a part of your life- but-"
"Get out." She hissed.
"I'm sorry."
"No, I'm sorry for wastin' ma time with a loser like you!" She shoved him against the wall in the hallway. "When we started goin' out yea said yea unda'stood that Molly was a large part of ma life. Yea took care of her for me when I was down in tha bar- you met wit Tempe and everyone else an' yea said yea liked 'em, yea got along wit 'em. An' now- yea tellin me to chose between them and you!" She paused. "It's a no brainer asshole- they're ma family, they're ma life an' if yea don't like that then get out!"
"Kat- look I love you I want to-"
"I don't want to hear it- GET OUT!" she said throwing the door open. Mike stalked out of the small apartment.
"You will regret this!" he hissed. Closing the door, Kat slumped down against it and burried her head in her arms. She looked up. How could she have been so stupid? The guy had pretended to like her daughter and everyone else just to get into her pants. She shook her head and stood up, making sure the dead bolt was locked.

hey everyone! like i promised here's the rest of chapter 4! oh and quick poll: what do you guys think the sully/cam combined name should be? so far theres: scully, cully, scam, and scum hahaha- what do you guys think? (this actually realtes to a future chapter so be sure to tell me in a review!)
anyway: here's the chapter
Hodgins cracked the door to Angela’s studio open and found her slumped over her drawing table, papers spread out in front of her. Smirking he walked up behind her and rested a hand on her shoulder.
“These wedding plans are going to be the death of you.” He quipped. She turned her head towards him. Her eyes were red and swollen; and there were faint tear stains on her cheeks. Hodgins took a closer look at the papers on her table. They were all portraits of the babies she had drawn at the lab earlier that day. His eyes clouded over and he pulled her up to him. Resting her head on his shoulder, Angela broke down crying.
“They were just babies.” She sobbed. “Innocent little babies.” Hodgins circled her back with his hand.
“I know,” He said quietly.
“What kind of person does something like this.” She asked quietly. Hodgins shook his head.
“I have no idea.” He admitted. “But Booth and Brennan are definitely going to find him.” Angela nodded slowly. A small eternity passed before Angela turned back to the pictures. A small smile found its way onto her face. Hodgins wrapped his arms around her.
“You want one don’t you.” He said grinning. Angela laughed a little.
“Yeah, I’m mean, in the future, not now- with everything going on and all, but yeah I would.” A Cheshire Cat grin spread across Hodgins’ face.
“Well, they do say practice makes perfect.” He said looking at her. Angela bit her lip for a split second.
“Let’s go!” She said pulling him out of the room.

Cam and Sully sat on her couch staring at the movie on tv. Neither bothered to pay attention to the plot line, they just needed something to take their minds of the case- if only for a few hours. Sully cast a glance at the clock and sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“I should really get to bed.” He said solemnly. “I’m meeting Booth and Meghan at the diner tomorrow-” Cam nodded.
“I’m going to stay here for a few.” She said taking a sip of warm beer that was on the coffee table. Sully slowly stood up off the couch and headed for the bedroom. Cam reached out and grabbed his arm. “Nail this bastard tomorrow, ok?” Sully let out a small chuckle.
“Sure thing babe.” Leaning forward he captured her lips with his own before heading to bed. Sighing, Cam curled up on the couch and zoned out on the movie again.
xXxXxXx
Booth and Sully sat at a table in the back of the diner, casting casual glances at Meghan Lacey and her baby. Everyone was on edge waiting for Shaun Williams. Booth starred intently at the small screen in front of him. Earlier, they had wired Meghan with a small camera and earpiece. This way they could record everything that happened. Sully watched out the window facing the street. A man in his 40’s strode up to the diner. A baseball cap was pulled down over his pitch black hair, and sunglasses covered his eyes. He was about 6’ 2” and wore a khaki business suit with black tie and white business suit. Walking into the diner, he pulled the glasses off revealing cold, empty brown eyes. He approached Meghan at the counter.
“Here we go.” Sully muttered. Booth switched the mic and earpiece on.
Meghan turned to see the man standing behind her. A cold chill went up her spine as she looked him in the eye. There was something about those eyes, dark and cold that made her want to pick up Brayden and leave; but she was helping the FBI, she couldn’t just run out on them. Plastering her best fake smile across her face she extended her hand.
“Yes, you must be Mr. Williams” She said cheerfully. She shook his hand, resisting the urge to jerk away.
“Ah, this must be Brayden.” He said turning to the small infant.
“Yeah,” there was hesitance in her voice. “this is him. Like I told you in my email I want to find him a really good home, some place that could give him what I can’t.” Williams nodded, his eyes never leaving the tiny baby boy.
“Of course.” He said warmly. “It’s what every parent wants for their child. My job is to make sure that parents like you can give it to them. Now, I have several families lined up, why don’t you take a look at these papers and get back to me?” He said handing her a stack of papers. “I don’t want to rush you so feel free to take as long as you need to pick a family you feel is suitable- after all this is a pretty big decision.” Meghan nodded. “Ok then, you have my email address so we’ll keep in touch, and if you change your mind just let me know.” He turned back to Brayden, who was peacefully sleeping in his carrier.
“Right, well, I’ll let you know when I’ve picked a family out.” She said standing up. Williams snapped out of his trance like stare.
“Right then, talk to you soon.” He said extending his hand. Meghan grimaced slightly and shook it. Mr. Williams turned and walked out of the diner, pulling the shades back over his eyes. Meghan sighed and slumped onto the stool. Booth and Sully packed up their equipment and joined her.
“You did a good job.” Sully said.
“Yeah, that guy, he gave me the creeps.” Meghan admitted pulling the blanket tighter around her sleeping son. Booth chuckled a little, trying to keep things light.
“Yeah, I picked up that creepy vibe myself.” He said.
“So, what should I do with these?” she asked. Booth held out his hand and she gave them to him. Booth paged through the papers before handing them to Sully.
“There’s no names, or database information, do you think we could get anything off of those? Find out if he’s running a whole ‘nother scam?” Sully shook his head.
“Doubtful.” Sully said quietly. “I’ll give them over to Davidson though, see what he thinks.”
“And if all else fails, hand them over to Hodgins.” Booth said taking a sip of coffee. Sully laughed. “Alright then Meghan, what we need you to do is just lay low for a few days- we’ll call you when we need you to set up another meeting.” Meghan nodded again.
“Anything to keep Brayden safe.” She said. “I just want him to be safe.” Booth and Sully nodded before grabbing their gear and heading out.

I give you the newest chapter of this story, and I thank you all for being so patient and understanding while I write this... hope everyone enjoys this!!!!
Disclaimer: do I really need write one?
“Is there someplace where I can heat this up?” Meghan held Brayden’s bottle up.
“The break room is down the hall on the left,” Brennan pointed outside her office. “There’s a microwave in there, but if that’s not microwaveable I’m sure you can use one of Hodgins’ hotplates in the lab.” Meghan smiled.
“Thanks Dr. Brennan, for everything.” The minute Meghan walked out the door, Brayden began to fuss in his carrier. Brennan walked over to the chair and tentatively picked the baby up, stopping the small cries.
Brennan stared down at the tiny bundle in her arms, unable to fathom how someone could even think of hurting the tiny thing. It was so little, so innocent, so…awake. Beneath the blanket a tiny hand reached out and grasped slowly at absolutely nothing. With a little kick, the baby threatened to unleash a whole new bout of tears. “Who could blame him” Brennan thought.
“Hey,” she whispered “It’s ok, it’s all over, it’s all over.”
xXxXx
“Alright, this here is a little camera that will go in Brayden’s carrier. This way we can monitor everything that’s happening” Booth, Sully and Meghan were preparing Meghan for the upcoming meeting with Williams; the one where she would hand Brayden over to him. “If for some reason he’s taken out of the carrier, there’s also a GPS tracking device.” Meghan nodded and placed Brayden in his carrier. “The Squints are right out there, in plain sight, as well as a few agents. We doubt he’s going to try anything publicly, but when it comes to children we take every precaution possible.” Meghan nodded again. Sully grabbed one of the walkie-talkies in the front seat.
“Peanut here-“ Meghan looked quizzically at him. “Waiting for visual from Bones—“
“It’s bad enough that Booth calls me that!” Came Brennan’s voice. “Why are we using nicknames anyway?” Sully chuckled.
“Can’t have an assignment like this without them, our guy there yet?”
“No- not yet.” Brennan said, somewhat distractedly. Booth put the finishing touches on the survellience screen.
“Everything’s set here. Are the other screens working?”
“Hey- Spielberg. You getting a visual over there?”
“Crystal clear Peanut—“
“Hey Doc- I think we got him.” Came another voice. “And could you tell your assistants to cut back on the PDA- it’s getting nauseating.”
“They have to blend in somehow.” Sully said into the talkie. “Besides, I think that’s the only normal human thing Zack knows how to do.”
“I can hear you you know.”
“Oh my God- they’ve finally surfaced.”
“Can we please focus here!” Brennan was agitated. “He’s sitting down on one of the benches.”
“Copy that Bones-“
“Don’t call me Bones!”
“Isn’t that Booth’s nik for the good doc?”
“Task at hand here---“ Meghan looked at Booth.
“You weren’t kidding about all them being out there.” Booth shook his head.
“I’m starting to have second thoughts about letting them in on this.”
“They’ll be fine.” Sully said slapping Booth on the shoulder. “They have to be reintroduced into society somehow.”
“Zip here-“ Came an agent’s voice. “Everything’s set on our end. Doc you good?”
“I’m fine.” Brennan said hesitantly. Booth shook his head.
“Alright- what about Shorty?”
“Right as rain- remind me again how you clowns roped me into this when I can be sitting at home watching tv?”
“Very funny.” Sully said dryly. “Love Birds- you surfaced?”
“Oh you’re a riot.” Came Tobie’s voice. “Tell me, how did you wind up with the nik ‘Peanut’?” You could almost hear her eyebrow rising.
“It’s not what you think.” Brennan said lightly. Sully smirked. Grabbing the talkie from Sully, Booth shot him glare.
“Alright Peanut Gallery- let’s get this show on the road.”
Meghan apprehensively stepped out of the car and headed towards the park benches where Williams was. Her hand gripped the handle of the carrier so tightly, her knuckles turned white. Looking around she saw a young couple sitting on a bench not far away. The guy looked a little on the geeky side, and the girl was young as well with vibrant purple highlights in her dark black hair. A woman with dark sunglasses sat on the opposite end of the park, near the street reading a novel on ancient civilizations. A short, young woman walked an enthusiastic Golden Retriever around the park, or more like the dog was walking her. Meghan turned when she heard a car door slam behind her. A ‘suit’ stepped out of the SUV and headed towards the woman with the book; his serious business demeanor was thrown off by a huge belt buckle and a flashy purple tie that would have given ‘Highlights’ a run for her money. Off on the street sat a guy on a motorcycle, who looked around as though he were expecting to meet someone. He spotted Meghan and seemed to look her over critically.
“Nice and easy Meghan.” Zip said. “Don’t be too tense.”
“Easy for you to say.” She muttered. “Mr. Williams?” The guy turned on the bench and stood up to greet her.
“Meghan good to see you again. And Brayden too.” His smile was almost a leer. “Again, I guarantee you he will be going to a good home.” Meghan forced a smile.
“Of course.” Meghan said. “I wouldn’t think anything different.”
“Well, I’ll give you a moment to say good-bye.”
“This guy is freaking me out.” Tobie muttered. Zack’s arm tightened around her shoulder. >
“I heard that-“ Came ‘Spielberg’s voice. “Seriously, this guy could be the star in a horror movie. What was with that grin?” >
“He’s a killer.” Brennan said. “A killer that preys on infants. What do you expect?” >
“Guys---“>
“Sorry Booth.” Came a chorus >
“Alright sweetie.” Meghan cooed. “Be a good boy ok? Be good for your new family, and know…” She chocked up. “Know that I’ll always love you, and you’ll always be my baby.” Reluctantly, she handed Williams the carrier. He put a hand on her shoulder, and she visibly tensed.
“You’re doing the right thing.” He said. “Now, let’s get this little guy to his new home.” He turned and walked towards the parking lot.
“Shorty, you got a visual on the car?” >
“Not yet…” She replied. “I don’t…I don’t think he’s going to a car.” >
“Then where the hell is he going!” Sully demanded. >
“From the looks of it, he’s crossing over to that row of houses down the block.” >
“We’re on it.” Booth said standing up. >
Williams glanced over his shoulder. The guy in the suit and the girl stood up. He knew he’d seen them somewhere before.
“Someone’s getting antsy.” ‘Spielberg’ noted. “Keeps looking over his shoulder.” >
“You guys hang back a bit.” ‘Zip’ said. “I’ll get ahead a little.” >
Williams turned and looked over his shoulder again when he heard a motorcycle nearing him. Stopping slightly, he let the motorcycle turn the corner before he headed into the neighborhood. Taking one last look over his shoulder, he spotted a young couple nearing Meghan, who had collapsed into a pile of tears. Satisfied that things were ok, he proceeded into the neighborhood. A large dog pulled a woman across the sidewalk. The dog neared the carrier, sniffing around a bit.
“Whoa! It’s Dogzilla!” ‘Spielberg’ joked. “Head for the hills!” >
“Rick!” >
“Ha- I guarantee you Sully is thinking the same thing.” >
“Copy that Spielberg. We have the makings of a really corny sci-fi here.” Sully laughed. There was a pause. “Where’d she get the dog anyway?” >

Re: Just About Anything- sequel to GB&F by rabidauthor - [07/10/2007]
splitted because message was too long!!!
“Honey! Bad Dog!” The woman scolded. Williams jumped a little. “I am so sorry!” She apologized. “I don’t know where this thing gets its energy from I swear, he could give that bunny in the battery commercials a run for his money I’ll tell you that.”
“That’s ok,” Williams said smiling tersely. The woman looked down into the carrier.
“Oh, what a precious little boy you have!” She cooed. Sully snorted.
“Commit that to memory boys- I highly doubt Cara’s going to say anything like that again.” >
“Oh, he’s… not mine.” Williams said slowly. “His mom was one of those teenage statistics who couldn’t care for him, but we’re going to fix that little problem aren’t we.” The woman stepped back a little.
“Well, how, nice of you.” She said slowly. Something in his tone was ominous. And his eyes were blank, no emotion whatsoever. “Well, sorry to have kept you. C’mon Honey.” Williams turned and continued on his way down the street.
“OK-“Cara said. “I can guarantee you that something is not kosher over there.” >
“No-“Booth said sarcastically. “Who would have thought?” >
“Seriously though,” Sully said. “Where’d the dog come from?” >
“Hey guys I think I know what house he’s heading to.” Came Zip’s voice. “I drove down the street and met a dead end cul-de-sac. He’s heading straight down, not stopping which means he’s heading towards one of the end houses.” >
“Visual confirmation.” ‘Spielberg’ said. “Looks like he’s going left, what do you think Sully.” >
“Yeah, definitely left.” >
“Bones and I are headed that way now.” >
“Don’t call me Bones.” >
Williams slipped the key into the lock and stepped inside. Closing the door behind him, he flicked on the lights and headed towards the back room. Brayden fussed a little in his sleep.
“Hey there,” Williams said softly. “Don’t worry, it’s not your fault. It’s not your fault Mommy didn’t know to keep her legs closed—“
“Dude- this guy is seriously wack.” Cara said curtly. >
“We’re just going to solve this little problem right now.” Williams said, emotion stripped from his voice. “Just a quick little snap and everything will be over, just like with the other little bstards.” Booth and Brennan quickened their paces, breaking out into a full run. Sully threw the SUV into gear and tore down the street, as did ‘Zip’ and his motorcycle. Cara handed Honey back to her owners before running off down the street, and Tobie and Zack sat with the crying Meghan on a park bench.
“Guys- Go! NOW!” ‘Spielberg’ shouted. A horrible cry came from inside the house. Booth kicked the door in, gun drawn, followed by Brennan, and not long after Sully and ‘Zip’.
“Put the baby back in the carrier Williams!” Booth demanded. Williams released his hold on the tiny boy, but didn’t move to putting him down in the safety of his carrier. The baby’s screams pierced the ominous silence that had settled over the house.
“No, no… you… you don’t understand.” Williams stuttered. “I’m…I’m doing them a favor. Their mothers, they don’t want them. They’re… they’re better off this way! I’m doing them a favor!”
“By killing them?!” Brennan demanded. “How is that doing them a favor!”
“No one wants them.” Williams answered. “They’re better off dead.”
“You’re sick.” Brennan spat. Outside, and ambulance had arrived, along with Meghan, Zack, and Tobie.
“And, more importantly, you’re under arrest.” Booth said pulling out his handcuffs. “Now, put the baby back in the carrier.” Sighing, Williams tossed little Brayden back into the carrier and waited for Booth to read him his rights. Brennan grabbed the carrier and headed outside where the paramedics waited to examine the shaken infant.
“Oh my God.” Meghan sobbed. “He’s ok. He’s ok.” Brennan nodded.
“He should be fine, the paramedics just need to take a look at him.”
“All I wanted was for him to have a good home.” Meghan said softly. “I never wanted, I never thought….” She stopped and walked over to where the paramedics were checking Brayden over. Tobie’s hand unconsciously covered her stomach, where a baby bump was just beginning to show.
“Zack, Tobie, you guys can go back to the lab and finish up whatever you were working on. Or you can go home.” Brennan added hastily.
“I have a skull I need to finish piecing together.” Zack said with a shrug.
“And I promised Angela I’d help her make a few adjustments on the Angelator.”
“I can give you guys a ride.” Cara called having finally caught up with everyone. “My cars back up at the park.” Nodding, the duo followed the agent back out of the neighborhood. Booth walked out, Williams in cuffs.
“Sully, please take our friend here over to the interrogation room.”
“No problemo.” Sully said intercepting the perp. Sighing, he walked over to where Brennan stood watching the young mother hold her baby.
“I’m glad this is finally over.” Booth said suddenly. “You might start sleeping at night.” Brennan rolled her eyes.
“He’s fine!” A paramedic called out. “Slight bruising around the neck, but other than that nothing major from what we can tell.” Brennan looked at them wide-eyed.
“You’re kidding right! You can’t tell that from a quick examination. He needs to be seen by a doctor, in a hospital.”
“He has an appointment with a doctor tomorrow Miss.” The other said. “We see no signs of current trauma.”
“So! He should still be seen by a doctor!” Brennan argued.
“Bones, calm down” Booth said quietly. She spun around to face him. “The video we got shows we got there just in time, alright. Everything should be fine—he wasn’t there long enough for any damage to be done, aside from bruising” Brennan seemed to calm down as the paramedics drove off. “Meghan, if you could come back to the Jeffersonian, we would like you get your statement.” Meghan nodded and placed the little boy back in his carrier.
And now, here Brennan was, holding the small baby in her arms, rocking him gently back and fourth.
“Motherhood suites you sweetie.” Brennan looked up in the doorway to see Angela.
“I—I---“
“Just accept the fact that your good with kids, I mean look at you with Molly and Parker, those two idolize you practically.” Brennan couldn’t help but grin.
“Speaking of which, where is Parker?” Brennan asked. Angela waved it off.
“Jack is showing him some of the bugs in the lab- and before you go freaking out, they’re not the flesh eating ones either.” Brennan let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. “What about the other two kids?” Brennan asked.
“Bren! Was that a joke!” Angela laughed. “You made a joke!” Brennan rolled her eyes. “Well, seeing as it’s seven, they’re off the clock and at home, where normal people go after the work day is done.”
“I go home!” Brennan countered. Smirking, Angela flounced down the hall in search of her fiancée and the mini-Booth. Sinking into her chair, Brennan continued rocking Brayden for a short while.
“Dr. Bones?” Brennan looked up to see Parker in the doorway.
“What Parker?” She asked quietly, so as not to disturb the now sleeping Brayden.
“Can we keep him?” Parker’s face was a picture of innocence. Brennan was speechless.
“Wha- what?” She asked.
“The baby.” Parker said, as if it were the simplest thing in the world. Walking over to the chair he looked down at the sleeping bundle. “If his mommy wants him to have a good home, and good parents, why can’t he come live with us?” Outside the door, Booth and Meghan stopped short and listened to the little boy.
“I--- I don’t know honestly.” Brennan admitted. She looked back down at the little boy. Booth and Meghan exchanged a look. Why couldn’t Booth and Brennan adopt Brayden?”
“Brayden Booth.” Meghan whispered. She looked up at Booth. “Has a nice ring to it don’t’cha think?” Booth grinned before walking into the office.
“Hey Bones- got a minute?”

Zack ducked into the refrigerator and pulled out a small box. Grinning, he reached into the drawer and grabbed a candle and lighter. A few seconds later he turned out the kitchen lights.
“Hey! Tobie!” He called. “Could you come in here a sec?”
“Yeah, what- why are the lights out?” She asked. Peering around the small corner she saw Zack standing with his back against the counter holding a plate. On the plate was a giant chocolate cupcake with a signal candle on it. “Oh my God.” She breathed slowly. “You remembered!” Zack grinned.
“Of course I remembered!” He said placing the plate on the counter. “How could I forget your 20th birthday? Ana remembered too- there’s a message on the machine saying she’s taking you out tomorrow night.” Tobie wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down for a kiss.
“You are the greatest boyfriend ever.” She whispered.
“Well,” he said pulling her close. “I love you.” He said softly. “More than you could ever imagine. I mean, you are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, and… and I can’t imagine my life without you, so I was wondering, if you would,,, if you would stay,” he paused. “forever.” Tobie looked up at him, eyes wide.
“Are you asking…”
“Yeah, I guess, I guess I am.” Tobie bit her lower lip a little. Zack watched her closely.
“Yes.” She said jerking her head up suddenly.
“Really?” Zack let out the breath he had been holding.
“Yes,” She said laughing. “I will.” A small stream of tears ran down her face.
“Well then,” Zack reached into his pocket and pulled out a small gold ring with a stone set in the center. “I guess I can finally give you this. It’s not much I know, but”
“It’s perfect.” Tobie said cutting him off. He slipped the ring onto her finger and she gazed at it before looking back at Zack. “Just like you.” Standing up on her tiptoes she leaned in to kiss him.
“Just like you-“ he whispered against her lips. The candle slowly flickered out, and the cupcake lay forgotten on the counter.
