That is correct! I'm usually awake by 6:30am every morning ( minus sat and sun ). My 5 year old is in kindergarten and she has to be to school by 7:30am

ACK! Sorry about that. My internet decided to die on me. Had to reset the modem and router. Yeah 3 hours I guess is the norm these days. They have an am kindergarten and pm class. We moved here in Nov so the school year was already in progress. In Baltimore she was in PreK because the cut off for K in Maryland was Sept 1st. She turned 5 on Sept 29th. But Virgina's cut off is Sept 30th so she made it by 1 day. In prek she went from 9:05 to 11:50 so that was a little better. But when we get here they put her in the AM class.

I think the american school system will always be a miracle to me.....especially since it's different in every state
In Germany children can go to a KiTa (Kindertagesstätte like a daycare) when they are a few months old, when they turn 3 they are allowed to go to Kindergarten (that would be similar to the american preschool or playschool, I think) with 6 they go to elementary school and after 4 years there the parents and the teachers decide on what level of education would suit the kid best
then you can go to Realschule (years 5 to 10), Gymnasium (5 to 12, highest possible level of scholar education, ends with the Abitur which allows you to go to University) or Gesamtschule (5 to 12, but you can get the same degree as in Realschule or in Gymnasium)

So we moved into our apartment back in Nov of 2009. The entire time we've been here our stove has been acting up. Sometimes the burner work sometimes they don't. The oven works about 85 % of the time. We are constantly putting work orders in and maintence keeps coming over, changing out the burner etc. Well on Sat the stove and oven just stopping working all together. So maintence just came out and he tried the burners. Telling me this is a new stove it should work. Well he turned the burners off and went and checked the breaker. Nothing wrong there. He pulled the stove out from the wall and we hear a very loud POP and sparks followed which was also followed by smoke. And he says " We have to replace the stove. This one no good *

I think it's hilarious! When he first came in today I asked if they could get us a new stove and he said no, this one is brand new. And then it breaks and we need a new one. HAHA
