Lip Color on Male Cast Members

Ok, this has been bugging me for awhile, but it's really gotten worse since Sweets joined the cast. Does anyone else think the makeup dept is overdoing the lip color on the guys in the cast? I mean, I realize actors, even the males, have to wear makeup so they don't appear washed out, but I really think the shades they put on the guys lips are too dark pink. Sweets just needs a wig and a dress to look like a woman, for pete's sake! He has very full lips, which I think could be downplayed with the right makeup. But even Booth's lips are nearly as dark as Brennan's at times. The only one I haven't really noticed this on is Hodgins. Am I being picky? Or maybe I've watched the episodes over and over too much?

I can't say that I've noticed this at all. Sweets does have full bright lips, but they look natural to me. Not saying it's you, maybe I'm just not looking at Booth's mouth closely enough!!

Oh I've totally noticed too - thought it was just me being nit-picky. LOL - sometimes I almost think its funny. My husband even noticed - said - "hey - nice lipstick that dude is wearing" - LOL

I've noticed it on TJ and JFD mostly. Not so much on DB. I think it's just the filters though, that make the shades more noticeable and not necessarily the wardrobe department's choice of lipstick.

That's a good point, I've only noticed in on Sweets though..

JFD has had naturally weird lip shade. he was the same in freaks n geeks.

I'm pretty sure that John's lip color is natural. Not only did he have full red lips as a child and before being on Bones, but my hubby has full red lips naturally, too.

That's a good point, I've only noticed in on Sweets though..

You know, Casey, I have to say that I've always been taken by his eyes and his hands! I guess I really notice his lips most when they're doing what they do oh so well, and I can't see color on them at that particular point in time!

And watching him in those directing videos ... he's working those hands!!
