Why is NCIS so popular?
This article is actually on why NCIS is so popular but ends up praising 'Bones'

"But for my money, the best show about federal employees on the air right now is Fox's Bones. Yes, it's a procedural, and it's got an FBI agent. But it's set in a federal scientific lab, among a group of employees with a wide range of skills. Solving murders is what the show focuses on, but it's not the only thing the characters do. They interact with a broad array of members of the public. And the show makes frequent references to coordinating with other agencies. The show isn't a documentary, of course--I don't think a lot of federal labs include vaults set up by serial killers, and David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, who play the two main characters "deviate from the norm" in terms of physical appearance, as Deschanel's character would say. But despite those necessary elements of fantasy, the show has a feeling of interconnectivity, and shows the characters doing a whole bunch of things other than brandishing guns and kicking in doors. With NCIS as the counter-example, that feels like progress."

Re: Why is NCIS so popular?
I understand what the author is saying, but I think NCIS is fairly awesome in its own right -lack of civilian interaction notwithstanding. In fact, though I do love my Bones I have to say, if NCIS was on the same night, I'd have a lot of trouble deciding what to watch. A LOT of trouble.
There, I said it.

Re: Why is NCIS so popular?
I am also a NCIS fan, however, Bones is first with me.
I want to see a new Bones epy asap. NCIS can wait.
In the US right now there are networks that run at least three
episodes of NCIS per day. It is in at least it's sixth season. So
they have more episodes to syndicate.

I really like both these shows, and lucky for us in Australia they are on different channels and different nights. Having said that, Bones on at 9.30pm on a Sunday night is pushing the friendship just a bit.

Great article..
And I have to agree with Suzy, although for me, NCIS has a lot more reruns so you can catch it later...

Re: Why is NCIS so popular?
I've just recently started watching this show since it's got re-runs all the time, and I think it's pretty cool. I remember Mark Harmon from way back but he's usually been a doctor as far as I remember!! He's not really the reason I watch it though - mostly it's his "squints" (I don't know what he calls them.) But I was really surprised when heirofloki said "I do love my Bones I have to say, if NCIS was on the same night, I'd have a lot of trouble deciding what to watch."heirofloki wrote:I understand what the author is saying, but I think NCIS is fairly awesome in its own right -lack of civilian interaction notwithstanding.
