Well . . you go through the what-ifs and "If I changed" scenarios and a whole bunch of turning things over in your mind that will always defy a real explanation and you finally conclude that if only one of you wants the relationship there is nothing more to be gained or done. And, poisonous is an excellent description - problem is - you may survive the bite - the visible wounds might even fade but the toxin continues to circulate through your system.

If you lose love to death - that's harsh and abrupt and hard to come to terms with but you have finality. When it is loss due to divorce - its is like all of those things taken by death but the ghost is a tangible being still able to be spoken to or touched but you can not span the chasm in between AND the harsh, abrupt change in your life was by choice and deliberate will of a person - The person - you most tried to establish trust and loyalty and intimacy with and they have rewarded your efforts with the ultimate betrayal.

The knowledge that you failed in that which meant the most to you in this life is a long recovery process that leaves paralysis and "phantom limb" awareness of what is missing from your life.

If you tried to keep things going, but she made up her mind, for whatever reason, that it was over, there was nothing you could have done. Hard thing to say, but maybe her asking for a divorce was the best thing that could of happened. Time for a new beginning.

well, it would be great to stay a little longer, but I gotta leave. gotta go buy groceries or we have to starve. and i don't like that one bit. so, shopping it is.

HI Jonezn - thanks - we weren't sure how she would do. She has been in pain for over a year. Family Doctor sent her for CAT scans and MRI's on her spine and back, wasn't until about 3 months ago she saw surgeon and it was determined it was her hip that was deteriorating and needed replacing.
