A question that has been bothering me-posted by I Hart Booth
Okay so, for a long time I had problems watching Priest in the Churchyard because I find Brennan so incredibly annoying in it, mostly, i realize, because I'm predisposed to be defesive for Booth, even against his main squeeze Brennan. And she attacks his religion through the whole thing.
So anyway, I was watching Boneless Bride today on tv, which, I'm sure you will remember, involves the 'marraige' of two dead people's bones. Which Booth finds strange, and Brennan for some reason is tolerant of. So my question is this...
Why is it that when Booth thinks marraige between two dead people is weird, he's being "judgmental" but when Brennan is rude to a parish preist and calls God Booth's "imaginary friend" she's making conversation?
This has irked me for quite some time and I want to know your guys' takes on it.

Tink,
Oh trust you to bring up the hard hitting question. Personally, I don't think Brennan has reached her social skill apex yet. So what she thinks is a 'ritual' in death, which speaks to her logical mind is okay, the 'antiquated ritual' of marriage which is carried on through life, is harder to comprehend.
Bones can see the social aspect of the final rights of a body, but she can't see the personal aspect of someones faith.
I don't think I'm really making any sense. But she chalks everything up to a society and the ways of that culture, but I don't think she really sees herself as any one part of a culture.
Booth embraces his religion and beliefs as a part of upbringing and his being, but Brennan doesn't see that as a 'culture' per se.
I've confused myself, figure it out, you're brilliant!! Hahaha!!
Bella

Bella, I agree with you 100%! Good answer! Brennan doesn't understand how you can put your faith into something that's not there. The bones are there. And more importantly, its something that she knows. She's a scientist all the way and I think, despite improving, still can't see how Booth can have faith.
Besides, I always thought her arguing with Booth in that ep was just a reflection of her freaking out about Sully and that whole situation.

agree with bella on this one. I think Brennan see's the dead marriage thing is more cultural rather than about believing in God. She struggles to find logic in something that isn't tangible, like God, she has to see to believe. Where as the marriage is a tradition and culture x

i have a question myself........in the episode....'knight in the grid'.....hodgins and sweets are having a convo in the lab about secret societies....in the background...you see a board set up for gormagon, his apprentice, and his victims....there is a pic of an old man.......under it it says 'master'.....later on in the episode..they go to see the old man in the nursing home....he looks exactly like the old man in the photo on the gormagon board....
so is it the same guy??????????? i didnt think it could be since they hadnt discovered him yet.........
i hope you know what i am talking about

Wasn't the guy in the nursing home supposed to be the original cannibal who recruited Gormagon, or am I confused (this is very possible). Unfortunately I was too oblivious to notice pics in background. Doesn't help that we haven't had that ep in the UK yet so I've only seen it on youtube - grrrr!

hi peeps.... I have another question..
has anybody else noticed (or maybe it's just figment of my imagination) that booth sometimes has a black cell phone and sometimes a silver one... it's always the same model, a motorola razr..... but sometimes it's black and sometimes it's silver... and he did not just change it, cause I think I even saw him the two different mobiles in one episode...
am I crazy? Do i just imagine things or is it true?

haha, temper, nice idea, but I don't think so...
I would have never noticed too, but it's the same phone I have, so that made me kind of... look twice
Mine is black, though........ and it stays that way all the time.... boring thing, really.
