This is a pretty interesting article from The Toronto Star...
Officially the Toronto Jail, but known as the Don Jail, this provincial institution was for remanded offenders that is, people who were charged, but not necessarily found guilty of a crime. Opened in 1864 (before Canada was officially a country!) and closed in 1977, it was a short term facility and the site of the last executions in Canada (death by hanging in 1962).
The facility was purchased, and while digging up an old parking lot, some skeletons were unearthed!

Another article from The Toronto Star about the Don Jail.
The picture of the Victorian architecture at the old main entrance is creepy... gotta love that Victorian sense of humor with the image of "Father Time" above the door.

Very interesting. But after all that discovery, they still putting up a building or whatnot?! Man, I'm too chicken to even go back if I was there! Fascinating, though.

Art imitates life! An article about a Toronto Police investigation into the death of a man whose skeleton was found in a park...

That's really cool. I loved the facial reconstruction aspect. Thanks for the post!

For all you music lovers out there... this is awesome. A forensic anthropologist was asked to recreate what Bach's face would have looked like... check out this video.
SO COOL
