How do you make an animated gif?

How do you make a GIF animation? I can with random pictures, but I mean using actual clips or parts from a movie, or TV show or something. How does one do that? Is there a special program you need, or what?

This is kinda funny. I've wondered the same thing hundreds of times, but as soon as you asked the question I did my thing ... Googled it. Haha! Now why couldn't I do that when I was asking the question I'll never know.
There was a whole slew of things that popped up, but here's a youtube video showing how. I'm not going to watch it all before posting this, so if somebody else has an answer go for it too!

Well, that video was impossible to follow.
I'm still trying to figure this out. Last night I tried a site named Zamzar, but it ended up bombing in the conversion.
Anybody out there have any suggestions??

No clue, but I am going to see what they have for Macs because that looks cool!
I am trying to think that one could take pictures and move to iMovie (or Windows equivalent) and do something there. That would be an interesting task.

I've made one before, using a free graphics program called the GIMP. It's fairly simple. If you are familiar with graphics programs and how layers work, each layer of your image represents a frame. Instead of saving it as, say, a .jpeg, save it as an animated .gif. If you are still confused, Google "How to make an animated gif in GIMP"
There are plenty of tutorials out there...but, really, it's fairly simple. You can do ittt!
