My Alternate Ending

Act 4 scene 1
Capulet Orchard Tuesday Afternoon

Enter Juliet

Juliet: O, why must I marry Paris
After all, I lothe thee
He thinks he is in love with me
But yet he hath not seen me at all!
O, what must I do
To get out of this new marriage
Think, Juliet, think!
O, I know!
I shalt run to Mantua
To be with my Romeo.
My one true love.
But who can I trust?
After all, the Nurse won’t help
She hath told me to marry Paris
I cannot tell my parents
O, heavens no!
But who?
O, the Friar!
He will help me!
Nurse!

[Enter Nurse]
Nurse: Yes my dear?
Juliet: Tell my parents that I have gone to confession
It has been too long
I must ask the Friar for his
Guildence. I have no idea
If I shall be a good wife to Paris
Nurse: Finally child, you have come to your
Senses! It is good that you are forgetting
Romeo and marrying a good man
All right, I shall tell
But don’t be too long
We must pick out your dress yet

Juliet: Yes Nurse, thank you
I shall be off now.

Act 4 Scene 2
Friar Lawrence’s Cell
Tuesday morning
Enter Paris and Friar Lawrence
Friar: Thursday? So soon?
Paris: Yes, I cannot wait ant longer
She shall be mine very soon
I love her very much
And maybe this wedding will cure
Those tears left by Tybalt’s death.
She hath been crying so much of late
It may seem as though she has lost a lover
Instead of a cousin.
But no matter
By Thursday night we shall be wed

Friar: Ah, well. Her happiness is important
O, speak of the devil, here she is!

[Enter Juliet]

Juliet: Friar, I must speak with you
I seek your guidance
Paris: Ah she is lovely, my wife.

Juliet: [Aside] I do not doubt that I am lovely
But I shall never be your wife –
Hello Paris

Paris: Well, I must go now.
Juliet, I shall see you Thursday next.
Good day and may God be with you

[Exit Paris]

Friar: Yes Juliet, you needed to speak to me?

Juliet: I have decided to run away from
Verona and go to Mantua to be with my Romeo.

Friar: Run away child! Heavens!

Juliet: I do not wish to marry Paris
And I couldn’t get out of the arrangement
It was an idea that I had come up with

Friar: And when you get out to Mantua,
What next?

Juliet: Romeo and I will leave Italy
Or go to another city. But I needst your help.
How can I get out of Verona?

Friar: I will help you
Come by tonight, at the 9th hour
And I shall have your disguise

Juliet: O, thank you Friar!
I must go now, a million thanks
I shall come by this evening
May God be with you!

Friar: And also with you

Act 4 Scene 3
Capulet House
Tuesday Afternoon
Enter Lord Capulet

Capulet: So many people are coming
To celebrate the marriage of my
Young daughter

[Enter Juliet]

Juliet: Father, please forgive me.
I have made a grave mistake disobeying you
I have spoken to Friar Lawrence and I beg
for your forgiveness. I shall marry Paris.

Capulet: I shall forgive you, but only this once
And because this is such a great thing,
You and the County will marry
Tomorrow!

Juliet: Tomorrow? So soon?
Why not wait until Thursday?
Capulet: You shall do as I say!
It’s shall be tomorrow!
Go and grab our mother and Nurse
And pick out your dress.

Juliet: Yes Father.

[Exit Juliet]

Capulet: Now I must help prepare
For the wedding. Servant!

[Enter Servant]

Servant: Yes my Lord?

Capulet: Help with the decorating
We have a wedding tomorrow!

Act 4 Scene 4
Juliet’s Chamber
Tuesday Evening
[Enter Lady Capulet, Nurse and Juliet]

Lady Capulet: O, Juliet, darling.
You look wonderful! Paris will
Be swept off his feet when he sees you!

Juliet: Thank you Mother.

Nurse: Your mother is right, child.
Now you will be a bigger woman soon

Juliet: I am tired, I wish to go to
Bed early tonight. I want to be
Up early tomorrow so I can make
Sure everything is perfect for the
Wedding.

Nurse: Of course dear, we’ll
Leave you be.

[Exeunt Lady Capulet and Nurse]

Juliet: Ah, it is close the 9th hour
But am I ready to leave this
Life behind? Yes I am. To be
With my Romeo forever. We shall have
A happy life together. With no
Feuds, arranged marriages and controlling
Parents. Just us, two people in love.
It’s is the 9th hour. I shall be off.
But, my parents will wonder where I am
After I leave. I shall leave
Them a note. There, all done.
Goodbye everyone

Act 4 Scene 5
Friar Lawrence’s Cell
Tuesday Evening
[Enter Friar Lawrence]

Friar: I wonder if Juliet is coming
She is somewhat late
Hath she given up?
No, don’t even think that
She loves Romeo, even till death.
Ah, her she comes.

[Enter Juliet]

Juliet: Good evening Friar

Friar: Good evening Juliet.
There is your disguise. You shall
Be a nun working on a special project
In Mantua on my orders. Alright?

Juliet: Yes Friar

Friar: Good, now go change. I shall write a letter
To the guards explaining the situation in Mantua

[Exit Juliet]

Friar: What is this child thinking?
Running away? Her parents will be in terrible grief
I warrant. But alas, love makes people do strange
Things

[Enter Juliet in nun outfit]

Juliet: I am ready Friar

Friar: Yes. Juliet, here is the letter
Be sure to give it to the guards at the gates.
May God be with you.

Juliet: And also with you

[Exeunt]


Act 3 Scene 1
Mantua
Wednesday Morning
[Enter Juliet and the guards of Mantua]

Juliet: This must be it, I am so
Much closer to my Romeo.
But where in Mantua is he? I forget
To ask. Oh well, I shall search for him/

Guard of Mantua: Reason for visit?

Juliet: I have come from Verona on a special
Project from Friar Lawrence. Here is his letter.

Guard: [reads] Very well, you may enter.

Juliet: Thank you sir, may God be with you.

[Exit guards]

Juliet: Now, where is Romeo? Is that he? No, that
Is a beggar. Is that? No, Romeo is taller.
I did not expect that Mantua will be
So large. However, I shall find him.
Is that him? No. This was not a very good idea
Of mine. Wait, it that he? Oh, yes! Yes it is!
Romeo! Oh Romeo!

[Enter Romeo]

Romeo: is that the voice of my Juliet I hear?
No, I must be hearing things. But, there it is again!
Juliet! She is here! Juliet!

Juliet: My love! I hath found you at last!

Romeo: How in heavens name did you get here?

Juliet: My parents hath made me marry County Paris
But I had ran away before the wedding,
For I will rather marry a cockatrice then thee,
For I am yours.

Romeo: What does that Nurse say?

Juliet: She says that I should forget you and marry Paris,
As if I could ever forget you. My father threatened to
Disown me and throw me on the streets if I didn’t
Do as he said. But with the Friar’s help
I was able to run away.

Romeo: That wench! But I have missed you.
A day apart is far too long. I love you.

Juliet: And I you.

Romeo: What next?

Juliet: We run away to wherever we want to.

Romeo: What about Rome?
My parents have no connections there it is far away from here.
We can start a whole new life.

Juliet: Yes. Rome will be perfect.
We shall leave later today.

Act 5 Scene 2
Juliet’s Chamber
Wednesday Morning
[Enter Nurse]

Nurse: O, is young Juliet still fast?
O, dreadful child, on the day of her wedding.
Wake child! O, she is not here. Did she wake already?
But no one saw her. Lady! Lady!

[Enter Lady Capulet]

Lady Capulet: Yes Nurse?

Nurse: Did young Juliet wake today?
She is not in her bed.

Lady Capulet: I don’t believe so,
Servant!

[Enter Servant]

Servant: Yes my lady?
Lady: Did Juliet leave her chamber today?

Servant: No she didn’t.

Nurse: Look, my Lady, there is a note
Amongst the sheets!

Lady: Yes. It reads,
“Dear Mother,
By the time you have read this, I shall be in another city.
I hath run away to be with my love, my husband, Romeo Montague.
I do not wish to marry Paris, I am sorry
Juliet Montague”
What is this treachery!? Married?!
Why wasn’t I notified?!
And to a Montague no less!? Nurse, did you
Know of this?

Nurse: Ay, yes I did. But I hath told
Her to for get that Romeo and
Marry Paris. She did not
Listen to me.

Lady: You knew, and you did not think
To tell us! And now she’s gone!
Off to live with Tybalt’s
Murderer! [starts to cry]

[Enter Lord Capulet]

Capulet: What is this noise?
And where is Juliet?

Lady: [gives him the note] Here. She hath run away with her
Husband Romeo to some unknown
City! And the Nurse knew!

Capulet: Husband? Romeo? She is not yet
Married and it’s to Paris. I will speak
To the Prince, Friar Lawrence and Lord
Montague about this!
Romeo hath warped her brain into
Loving him! Nurse, I shall
Speak to you later!

Exeunt
Act 5 Scene 3
Lord Montague’s House Wednesday Morning
[Enter Lord Capulet and Lady Capulet]

Capulet: Montague! I needst to speak to you!

[Enter Montague]

Montague: What is it? It is too early for this!
My wife had just past away.

Capulet: Your son had brain-washed my daughter!
Married her and took her away!

Montague: What? This is the first I heard of this!
I don’t even know where he is!

Capulet: [gives him the note] Read it!

[Enter Prince]

Prince: What is this?

Capulet: Romeo hath married my Juliet and taken her with
Him to some unknown place!

Prince: Is this true?

Montague: Yes. Get the Friar, he will know something.

[Enter Friar Lawrence]

Friar: You wished to see me?

Prince: Yes. Did you know of the marriage
Between Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet?

Friar: Yes I did. I was the one who has married
Them. They hath meet at the Capulet feast and had fallen in love.
They were wed the next day, the day of Tybalt’s death.
With Tybalt dead and Romeo banished also
With Juliet betrothed to County Paris.
She then had came up with a plan to be with
Romeo, with my help. She did not tell me
What city. The Nurse was privy to this.

Lady: This was the story of their love,
My.

Capulet: Well, Montague, we are now family.
Our only children hath fallen in love with
One another. Let’s end this feud between us,
For their sake.

Montague: Yes, lets.
