How come...

How come Temperance doesn't say "I don't know what that means" anymore. Surely she hasn't evolved so much that she knows everything Booth's talking about. It seems she was more clueless back in the 1st season than she is now. I just noticed this when i was watching the pilot on USA tonight.

I think it just got overdone and so they pulled it.

thats possible. But still throwing it in every few episodes just for flair wouldn't be all bad. Though I did think they played up her naive-ness too much, it's less subtle now.

Huh... I haven't noticed it missing. I'll have to keep an ear out.

If you watch the first few episodes of the first season and the last few of season four it's obvious how much she has changed as far as her obliviousness goes. She seems more with it in the later episodes. Just an observation. LOL.

Well, if you think about it, she is a little less oblivious. Before being partnered with Booth, she never left the lab--according to Booth--and it was strange to see her with a man--according to Zack, Hodgins & Angela (Woman in the Fridge). So, just having all of those new interactions--being more open to dating, being around Booth and talking to him, talking to strangers and interrogating and questioning people... Plus she's a genius and a quick learner, so she's bound to catch on really well.

Every once in a while she says she doesn't know what something means, though.

Huh. You have a point. I mean she seems more normal these days. But her dating 2 guys at the same time? She should have dropped them both and just slept with Booth. I mean she has good social skills with him. LOL.

I think that even though she seemed not to care what people thought during the first season, inside she was still the little girl who had to go to school with clothes that smell like garbage bags. ("I'm better with bones than I am with people.") After a while working with Booth, she became more confident in herself. She no longer felt that she needed to make a very distinct separation between herself and other people to defend against her natural aloofness.

I was just thinking about the realism of the character, but some other people had really good points, about her relation with Booth being a reason as well, they state it better than i could.
