Re: Movie Reviews!
The last good one I saw was Whip It. It's pure fun and Drew Barrymore does a GREAT job of directing, especially for her debut. Ellen Page is great as usual and pulls off the 16-year-old brilliantly as usual. I really want to go see it again, but I can't find anyone to go. I don't even know if it's still playing, but it's worth checking out. My hubby even liked it!

Re: Movie Reviews!
i saw 'The 4th Kind' last night........let me tell you.....it was intense.........and i got some goosebumps in a few places.......it basically revolves around alien abduction...and for the most part its a split screen.......one side is the actual footage they took and the other side is the movie.....very interesting and makes you think...i personally think that there could very well be other life forms out there....not that far-fetched.....but for them to abduct us and do crazy tests??? not too sure about that.....it wasnt my choice of movies....my sis is the big alien freak....i would have waited for the dvd

Re: Movie Reviews!
I haven't been to the movies in forever it seems, but this evening I went to see the new Sandra Bullock movie "The Blind Side". Wonderful movie. Perfect movie for Thanksgiving and Christmas time!
If you watch the commercials and think that it's a sports movie - it is so NOT a sports movie! You won't miss even a single iota of this movie if you know nothing, care nothing about football.
Sandra Bullock took some time off for a few years it seems, but she is back with a vengeance. This is like her 3rd or 4th movie that's come out since late summertime. Welcome back!

Re: Movie Reviews!
Oh, I can't WAIT to see The Blind Side. There's some Oscar buzz around Sandra Bullock...finally. I love her!
As for movies that I've seen recently, A Christmas Carol was pretty good. A little too heavy with the effects, if you ask me. They were really going for the whole 3D thing and it took away from the story.
Also, I watched My Sister's Keeper on my flight home from NYC...HORRIBLE. *I* could have written a better screenplay for that one. Of course, I read the book first, so it was incredibly disappointing because not only did they change the ending (which I was expecting), they changed the whole mood of the entire story and THAT did not fly for me. Thumbs WAY down. Although, I must say (and I can't believe I'm saying this 'cuz I can't stand her usually), but Cameron Diaz did a great job...with what the screenwriter gave her, which wasn't a whole hell of a lot. The book focuses so much on the mom and Anna and in the movie, the focus shifts to Kate, the sick one. They spent SO much time on the whole Kate-having-a-chemo-patient-boyfriend that I rolled my eyes at least a dozen times.
Okay, end of rant.

P.S. The cinematography was truly amazing with MSK. Leave it to the fabulous, 5-time Oscar nominee Caleb Deschanel!

Re: Movie Reviews!
I saw Planet 51 today... It's a Disney movie for kids. Basically, it's about this full-of-it astronaut named Chuck. Chuck lands on this planet that NASA assumes is uninhabited (sp?) because the Rover sent back pictures of rock instead of pictures of the aliens. Anyways, the "government" confiscates his ship, and Chuck has to hide, because the population thinks that he's going to try and take them over by turning into zombies. They all think this because of a recent series of movies released about "Aliens". Oh, Chuck has to get back to his ship, and "fly" back to the satellite in 48 hours, otherwise the satellite will go back to Earth without him.
I give it 5/5 stars because it is made for kids, and it is a good kids movie. But, it's a movie to rent, not one to see in theatres.
Has anyone seen 2012 yet???

Re: Movie Reviews!
yeah. i heard that too. apparently they put in too many special effects and it went too long, so people were getting bored....it goes for like 2 hours 40 mins or something.....

Re: Movie Reviews!
I went to see 2012 yesterday with my sister and my nephew (16). I wasn't impressed but they both liked it. Soo many special effects that it was preposterous. When I looked back on it later that evening I summed it up to myself ... this story about all these different cultures' calendars finishing on 12/21/2012 gave me chill bumps since the first time I heard about it, and every time since. This movie turned something that always felt very ominous into an overdone Hollywood action flick.

Completely and totally 100% agreed! I LOVED this movie and I really want to go see it again. It has been a WHILE since I saw a movie that I truly and totally loved and I was thoroughly moved by this one. Sandra Bullock is absolutely brilliant, she's always been one of my faves. And the movie is funny, touching, poignant, clever, and tugs at the heartstrings...which, to me = perfect!

Re: Movie Reviews!
Just watched GI Joe...
My opinion... a lot of action, mostly good special effects.... but the bad special effects really irritates me.... but there was some really bad action.... a story that really didn't made any sense.... backstories that i didn't care about....
So in stars (out of 5) *
Just the 1...

I don't know about the drooling in the recliners though - seems they could have at least given you a spittoon!i_heart_bones wrote:Koudijs wrote:PIMP wrote:DBCrazy wrote:OMGoodness! $70 for 2 tickets!!
